4 years Bachelors... studying non stop to get a >3.8 GPA... spend hundreds of hours volunteering/shadowing/etc etc ... study an insane amount for the MCAT... prepare for a huge interview..
accepted: Welcome to med school
rejected: spend another year... or maybe 2 years (doing a masters) then re apply.
Age going in: 22-24
4 years of studying/training non stop all day + study for insanely high scores on the big exams/step 1 whatever
Age finished med school: 26-28
Apply to residency programs (going through med school applying process all over again basically) and hope to get into a solid speciality.
Spend 4 years doing your residency.. working 70-80 hours a week...
Age finished residency: 30-32
Do a fellowship perhaps...
Age starting real work: 30-33
Reason: Parents made you, you thought you'd be rich easily, you want the prestige
