Varies for myself, depends on how long I stay at work and how long my workout is afterwards. There are times I have 7-8 hrs of free time and others where it's only 1 before I crash out for the night.

I did'nt know free time existed on weekdays...lol....kiddies, wifey. Heck, my weekends are even busier with ice hockey for boys and cheerleading and gymnastics for daughter. No wonders I work out in my jeans, i have no time to change.

One tough thing for me is days I get in way earlier than everyone else (say because I work out at 5:30 AM some days), then when I get up to leave at say 4:00 PM the boss gives the evil eye. But stay later, then get stuck in traffic, and by the time I get home that'll blow any plans for an early wake-up the next AM.

I can mow the lawn, trim the hedges, clean out the pool, dust the furniture, paint the door, sweep the porch, put some missing shingles on the roof, fix the blinking light fixture. If you want I can rebuild your 2006 BMW engine, pop your Mercedes on blocks and put a new undercarriage on, those ****in' curbs are hell!

I really think it depends on how you define freetime. When snookums and I go out shopping, thats a kind of freetime for me. I was doing some preliminary research for her earlier this week on investment opportunities, and I became so engrossed I did not even notice dishes being done 10 feet away from me.
If you mean not working at the office, its like an hour on workdays. But, on days I don't work, its usually closer to four.

I voted 1 hour or less.
I'm up at 4:25 am, leave for the gym around NOW (5:25am) and get home from work around 7pm. Eat dinner, shower, pack gym bag and I'm back in bed at 9pm.
So my free time is usually from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.
That's it.
Conversly on the weekends I usually do as little as possible.

Agreed.
My free time is not at work... the rest of my time I normally only do what I want to do and that includes hubby and the animals.
If I go to bed at 2200hr each evening I guess that gives me 3 - 4 hrs freetime due to the length of my commute from work.

^same here. hee hee.
But I do get home earlier, about 6 pm, during which time I cook dinner, get lunches ready for the next day, Jim's breakfast for the next day, set up the coffee maker and make protein shakes. Now and then I'm able to slip out of the office a wee bit earlier which gets me home about 5:30. Then I can do a little laundry or ironing.
No complaints though - I actually love our weeknights. And I have to say, last night was heavenly with the sun still pouring in our kitchen windows at 7 pm!

Too much idle time at work - not free time, just boring time watching CPUs generate heat, gathering results, restarting jobs, bla bla bla.

What do you mean by free time? The time I spend doing stuff with my kids I consider free time, in that case about 4-5 hours per week day. If you mean totally alone, then maybe an hour.

I answered 2 hours because that's the average time I have between Jake's bed time and my bed time. However, I wonder what the definition is of free time. If we're talking about how much time I have to do completely just what I want and nothing else, it's around 15-20 minutes daily (weekends included).

Getting these legs back
It depends on whether or not it's baseball season or if my husband is working. I guess the mode answer for me would be 1 hour. I usually go lay down with my son around 8:30, and then I'm up doing my thing between 9 and 10. Before that I'm dragging the kiddo to practice or games, going to watch my husband's baseball team (which doesn't feel like free time) or helping my son with homework.

I should be more specific. For this poll, weekday free time counts as waking hours minus work hours minus commuting hours minus preparing for work in the AM (shower, etc).
What I really hate is getting up at 4:30 AM, going to the gym, showing up at work at 7:30 like I did today, and be all ready to peel out at 4:00 and have boss lean on us all to stay until 5 or so. So basically I get stuck in the rush hour commute home, which I specifically arrived early to try to avoid!
So today for example I have 2.5 hrs free time because I got home at 6:00 and have to be in bed by 8:30 PM if I'm getting up at 4:30 AM.

I had a job sort of like that for a while. My boss was the senior VPs 'golden boy' so to speak. My boss for the most part* didn't care what we did, because no matter what, he kept getting raises and promotions.
(* he did care if we were obviously goofing off. So basically, he gave us no work to do, and we got very skilled at acting busy and concealing web surfing activities).

Well, I got tired of doing the same analyses over and over so I wrote software to automate a lot of the processes. After I get the glue written for a specific problem it's a matter of generating and gathering results. It's just that those results take on the order of cpu-years (split over a large computing cluster) to calculate and while that's going I have nuthin' to do. This will go on for a month or two and then a new project will come along (or I'll have to write up the last batch) and I'll disappear into the coding cave for a week and then it starts all over.

I would love to have a job like that, where with a little smarts I could automate in to the point I don't have to do squat. Well, let me say I would love a job like that if I didn't have an annoying-ass micromanaging boss. In other words, I want to sit around and read the newspaper or play cards with friends, etc. once I have automated my tasks, and not get any backtalk from the boss about how I should be working.
