I work at a gym and have been talking to some of the really big and lean guys lately and it seems that everything that everyone says on here that is broscience is what they actually do and believe in- and seems to be working wonders

What are they doing that is working wonders? Eating a surplus of calories and lifting weights? I thought we figured out that those two things made you huge a long time ago?

Herp derp, because they're on gear and/or what ever they're doing is working despite being uneducated.

they must be eating big, lifting hard, and doing some cardio to compensate the overfeeding.
also gear is more common than you would imagine..

nobody said that eating 6 times a day or drinking protein right after a workout is going to hurt your progress. All they are saying is that it doesn't matter if you eat 3 or 6 times or get protein at 5am or 10pm.

A lot of broscience encourages things that help you. For example, if you choose to eat every 2 hours, and you're on a defecit, it may help you keep away from high calorie junk snacks.

Because most bro science is just over complicating something that is pretty simple.

90% of the time they are still

    a) in a surplus/deficit
    b) lifting heavy
    c) keeping protein high

Everything else is highly unnecessary but its not going to hurt their gains.

    lol

But seriously: In my experience bro scientists are the biggest and leanest because they are on juice and/or have good genetics and/or workout hard and consistently and/or watch their diet on at least basic primitive level such as high protein etc.

There is also the factor that you, as the person who is observing that 'the broscientists are all the big ones' are particularly noticing the cases that don't fit your expectations, and ignoring all the ones that do.

No one ever said that broscience doesn't work. If you want all your cals to consist of rice and chicken you will still gain mass, or cut. The only reason people combat broscience is because broscientists proclaim it to be the only way to make gains.

    This.

And honestly, to follow that kind of diet, you have to be dedicated as ****. That's probably why these guys are bigger than the average guy most of the time.

Your experience is quite different from mine. The most jacked men/women I know/have known all stay away from the broscience BS. This group has included, at one time or another, 2 NPC-level bodybuilders, an entire group of powerlifters, one of whom held my state's Deadlift record, one fitness competitor, as well as any number of regular gym-goers who look the part, and who eat and train in reasonable fashion.
    No brain, no gain.

    You can't out-train bad nutrition.

They're consistent. Day in and day out they know exactly what they are eating to a tee, what they have to lift, etc. Even if a lot of what they believe in is a fairy tale, effort + consistency wins out. Cell tech makes it more magical

Maybe they're the most consistent regardless of their misguided nutritional beliefs.

Maybe they're getting all their macros accounted for inadvertently regardless of what they talk about.

Maybe they work their asses off.

    Maybe it's the Celtech.

a lot of broscience is just the old methodology of bodybuilding that we now know to be unnecessary. what you see at your gym is people who have been committed to the sport for a very long time. the result of this commitment is a) a physique that represents years of hard work and dedication and b) the practices/beliefs they learned when they were beginners, which have since been deemed broscience

    ^All of this.
Also, I guarantee that for every Hyuuge Brah in there eating his 6 meals a day, slamming a high GI/whey shake immediately post w/o, no carbs after 6pm, etc., There are 10 guys trying to follow those same bro-sci guidelines who are tiny and weak.
The above statement/post does not represent the opinions of anyone in real life. This is the internet. Not real life. Anyone who cannot grasp the difference between the two lacks the basic intelligence necessary for survival and should not be allowed to form opinions.

This reminds me of Jared and Subway. He lost weight because he happened to be eating at a calorie deficit and exercising - not because he ate Subway. They're gaining muscle because they happen to getting enough calories/protein/sleep/etc. - not because of their meal timing, excess protein or whatever else they swear "works."
