    Cutting water

    Hey people!

I am a second time competing drug tested bodybuilder. One huge mistake I made for my first comp was not cutting water. My abs were visible and I had no salt for six months. Very high protein diet with one cheat meal per week up to comp day and wine b4 stage. I achieved ok condition but struggling to formulate the shredded formula for my difficult to manage body. I have being told I nearly had it but got my timing wrong, but I feel there must be other factors.

Any advice would be much appreciated,

    Kind Regards,
    Dan

Ill give you the short answer that most people are too nice to say to your face....diet LONGER. Getting shredded is simply a matter or dieting....and dieting.....and dieting some more. Heres a good read on sodium and water.

no salt for 6 months? I think you may not understand what sodium does for the human body. Sodium is very beneficial and cutting sodium and water will only cause a reaction in the body that raises aldosterone causing retention. The body regulates those processes by the minute, not the day week or month.

Listen to Oak, diet longer. Read that article and let us know if you still need help. Good luck.

i honestly think you need to work with someone in person honestly you seem very confused and I don't mean any offense by that it's just the truth. No salt for 6 months???? I'd be dead on contest prep...I mean literaly die...if I did that. A mentioned salt is vital...especially when your working your butt off during a contest prep.

really you should be shredded 1-2 weeks out. At that point you should keep things fairly the same except maybe some minor changes (ie a mild diuretic if you are non natural) or maybe cutting some water night before a show. But you should really have no to very very minor changes...there is no crazy magic.

+1 listen to these guys. They are telling the truth. As for not consuming sodium for 6mths straight I'd like to know how that's even possible? By the way check out my pics and the guys posting in this thread. We all consumed sodium during prep. I for one would eat tons of salsa full of sodium. Not to mention all the ritz crackers/PB I'd eat the day before and day of stage
    My $0.02 is worth $0.03

No sodium for months was done waaay back when. It's been decades since competitors have done that.
