Not if you are healthy and lean, and don't want to look or be big and strong.

How about real knife and fork food, milk(best protein/weight gainer supplement), progressive training in squats, deads, presses, rows, curls etc.

You can get much bigger and fatter just by overeating and not training at all. You have to get MUCH stronger in big exercises for reps to gain a lot of muscle.

Beyond novice, 5 3 1 or see above:)

Unless it is obvious to anyone who isn't blind that you lift weights, you might still benefit from a little more attention to big basic barbell exercises for enough reps:).

It sounds like you don't/haven't trained seriously.

honestly my goal weight is 170, i'm only 5'10-5'11, however, what you will benefit from is compound lifts.

some solid lifts like squatting, deadlifts and power cleans will work your entire body out and you will see strength gains.
you won't see many results with weightlifting unless you eat like a horse, but a full body workout will most probably make you feel better, stronger and will give you practical muscle tone as well. your entire body will develop (mine definetly did, I went from 128-150 in a span of months, with no bodyfat gain).

    Do you play sports?
