    Are BCAAs worth the money?

I just started my first legit cut a couple days ago and so far it is going great. I am somewhat worried about losing muscle (I had previously done a crash diet and lost a ton of it), so I am considering buying a BCAA supp. My question is, if you are keeping your protein high, keeping your carbs and fats at a reasonable level, and not eating at a severe deficit, would the BCAAs be worth adding to my stack?

    Help a brotha out Thanks!

no. BCAA near training is useful if a) you plan on training in a completely fasted state, and b) you for some strange reason are consuming an insufficient total amount of protein in the diet.

I think it is safe to assume that most bodybuilders/athletes are taking in protein levels that are double the RDA (RDA is 0.8 g/kg, so double would be 1.6 g/kg).

OP is 190 pounds. I don't know how much protein he is ingesting, but let's just assume it is 250g of protein. Well, that is probably going to give you have about 50g BCAA from the protein alone.

I hit between 230g and 250g protein every day, so you are correct. If I can minimize muscle loss with my diet alone then I am all for saving my $$$ for something else

how important are BCAA for fasted training? I just did my first fasted training today (wasn't hungry so skipped breakfast) and it was good -- even set a new PR on deadlifts.

I ended up having a protein shake and high protein meal 90 minutes later.
