Hmm....I think Ive heard this question before.....
Do you have the bar at your home? If so, do you have a typical bathroom scale?
If the answers to both of these questions is yes, you can find out the weight of YOUR bar.
I say "your bar" because these things vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member #14

Here's a couple of ideas, different I think, than what's already been posted.
1) Ask a gym staff member about the weight of the bar.
2) Hold the empty bar in one hand and pick up successively heavier dumbbells with the other until you find one that feels like it's about the same weight. Once you think you have it right, swap the weights between your left and right hand to check. (I think you'll be able to get within 5 lbs this way.)
(Personally, I'm in favor of weighing the bar on a scale...)

Olympic bars normally are 44lbs, but he's talking about a standard 1" bar....won't weigh close to 45/44lbs
Don't post if you're going to give information like that...
I have a hallow fat bar that weighs 18lbs that I feel totally comfortable loading 700lbs on...the bars weight alone doesn't always have impact on what the bar will hold..."Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"
