Are you aware that skull candies actually have terrible sound quality, and will definitely break in about 3-6 months when your wires give out, thus making you out 10-20 dollars?


If we were to draw an analogy between televisions and sound quality, it would go something like this.

A person buying an iPod would be buying the equivalent of a 17" monitor and trying to use it as a TV. A person buying skull candies would have a resolution of 640x480 on that monitor.

A person buying a Cowon product would be buying the equivalent of a 60 inch plasma TV.
A person buying a Westone 4 would have the resolution of 2560x1600.

Are you guys aware now? Also, companies that you spend a TON of money on, but do get **** on by earbuds that cost 2x-3x less: Bose. Any sort of Beats. Skullcandy. Some Sony products.

Head Direct RE0 would be my first choice, it can match up to $200+ in ear buds with good sound quality. If you've only experienced crappy earbuds before buying these you will be BLOWN AWAY. But you have to get a good seal on your eartips to get good sound, also a burn in period is suggested for high quality earbuds.

If you are buying an iPod for anything other than the apps, you are wasting money serious. I would check out any Cowon product, they all have the best sound quality and battery life (up to 50+ hours audio) on the market. http://www.cowonglobal.com/ , click MP3, search for product you like best, look for best price.

Strong denial, thinking your earbuds have a large enough sound stage to distinguish between FLAC and 320 KBPS. Even with Rockbox, the iPod is still far behind the curve in sound quality.

the OP is talking about the "sound" of an mp3 player (media player) but a digital media player shouldn't have any sound. It does two things. 1. DAC (digital analog converter) and 2.) amplifies the signal
neither of which alter the "sound" if done correctly. Maybe the OP likes equalizers, I don't know.
