Oh, heard some strong broscience, I did!
"You can't build muscle mass from junk food"
"Eat 6 times a week to stoke the metabolic fire"... not that bad really since so many people still believe this, but when it comes from trainers and the like, it's sad
"low reps build mass, high reps cut you up"
"low reps make you bulky"
"deadlifting and squatting make you look like a fat powerlifter"
"high reps for strength!"
"no carbs at night"My recommended reading

Actually when you're bulking it's assumed that you're going to be taking in excess carbohydrate as well, which is protein sparing, so you wouldn't need as much as you would if you were cutting on a lower-carb diet. You need to try and maintain an anabolic environment when in a hypocaloric state by providing amino acids on a regular basis for protein synthesis. Your body is fighting to be catabolic with the hormonal stress of dieting, hunger, etc.

had a conversation with a friend about muscle shape. He is actually a clever guy and studies medicine, but he totally ****ed up here:
He was dead sudden that you can either train your muscles to be long, slim and tight instead of making them smaller in length and more 'taller'/bigger looking. His argument was that we have "long muscle cells" and he trains them by during 25+ reps. lol.
Tried to tell him how muscle cells really works, and that only dna decides it's shape, but he wouldn't listen. He still believes in training the "long muscle cells" oh lawd!
Whenever I hear people talking broscience I just don't want to bother reasoning with them anymoreIf you do what you always did, then you will get what you always got.

I've found that the solution to people like this is to act very elitist toward them. Let them know that they are wrong and you are right. Then tell them exactly why they are wrong with evidence and then make fun of them for talking about something they know nothing about. I did this to my friends and my mom, and now they don't question my eating or lifting habits anymore. and we still cool.

"Doing 1 rep bicep curl before going to bed is the same as doing a full set during the day"
I'm not ****ting you and this was not said as a joke...
"In two weeks of being on roids my mate went from bicep curling 25lbs dumbbells to 75lb dumbbells"
"I dont deadlift because seated cable rows is the exact same thing but easier"...

I have a friend that weighs 100lbs at best and is 10% bodyfat or less. He does P90X to get bigger. Claims he gained 15lbs of muscle the first week.
I also offered this fat bitch at work a natty peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat. She said she only eats white bread because she's allergic to wheat. Didn't want the peanut butter either cause it didn't have any sugar added.Last edited by OPISAPHAG; 03-06-2011 at 09:00 AM.

I'm working out at my high-school gym, not many guys train there, but from the few of us who train, the biggest 190 lbs around 7-8%bf(really shredded and monstrous traps,8-pack and striations in legs) guy came to me and told me that squaats and deadlifts are bad for me and I should stop doing them.
I was like WTF dont you do them too? i mean he has really hyyyoooggeee traps(I'm mirin) dunno where he got them from, must be genetically gifted.

The other day I was told to do shoulders on my knees because the gravity is greater and therefor you get better results. He tried to convince me by saying that is why shorter guys are so jacked, because they are closer to the ground. hahahaha

just read this lol
When I was around 21, I got into bodybuilding. I played football, basketball, martial arts, track, & pole-vaulting in high-school. I grew up in Texas and being big and muscular increased your social value immensely (as most high schools I assume).
When I turned 21, I started to lift for aesthetic purposes, not just for athletic performance. At my peak I managed to get to 245 and 3.8% body fat benching 450lbs for 4-5 reps.
In short, I looked like a real amateur bodybuilder. Anybody who knows me from a couple of years ago can attest to that.
Here is my experience of various dynamics during my journey.
ATTENTION FROM WOMEN
This result was two-fold. I am around 6’2”. When I hit around 205 at 5% body fat, I noticed a night and day difference with women throwing IOIs at me. When I started to increase to 220lbs at 6% I noticed it started to go down. When I hit 245lbs @ 6-7% body fat I noticed it go down a lot. Some girls would still throw IOIs, but most were scared of me. In addition, some simply gave me deliberate IODs.
To put 205@5% into perspective: It would look like Brad Pitt in Fight Club or Troy.
At 220lbs@6%, it would look The Rock in Scorpion King.
