I am 36 yoa, and just started working out again about 4 weeks ago. I haven't worked out in about 7 years. My question is I just got my first massage ever a few days ago and my back is still hurting from it, its been about 5 days. I don't know what to expect since I have never had one before. The pain is in the lower middle portion of my back and goes all the way across my back.
Anybody ever have this problem. She said my body was really tight and she could feel all the built up pressure in my back. I consumed plenty of water after the massage like I was told.
Should I try a hot bath, heating pad, or ice....or should I call and tell her it still hurts and try to get another one.

Some of that is just massage therapist BS jargon. Muscles do get tight, but stretching is just as good a cure and perhaps even better than massage therapy. You aren't supposed to come away from a massage feeling worse than when you started.
Massage therapy has it's benefits. Muscle relaxation being the primary one. But if she left you sore and in pain, she messed up. Or of course, there could be an underlying medical issue. Though it sounds unlikely.Semper Fidelis

Not entirely true. When done right they won't hurt. It takes correct training, and years of practice to get it right.
I got taught how to do it right, and still tore a few back muscles in my day with out me, or my clients realizing it.
Not allowed to make recommendations, or diagnose issues, but.......
