Matt Damon " Did you create a small business with your tax break this year"

Got me thinking, Why do republicans want me to pay the same tax rate as lil wayne who is worth $85 million dollars+ and I made $42,000 this year and have 1,400 dollars in my bank account? Even Bill O'reilly said he would be willing to pay more taxes.

    10% of $42,000 = $4,200

    10% of $85 Million = $8.5 Million

I like the Fair tax (not the one you are thinking of) you only get a sales tax on new items, don't have any links i'm sure you could find it somewhere.

why dont you subtract those 10%s from the total amount and see if $37,800 compares to $76.5 million as a remainder.

So many idiots it makes my brain hurt. Pick up a fukkin book and learn what socialism is. Hint. Just having a progressive tax system is NOT socialism.

Dont ask this stuff on the misc. These guys can't balance a fukkin checkbook let alone tell you the simplest info on economics. But yes, that is how it works as far as rates go.

    I see.

So the person making 42,000 should not be taxed, and the person making 85,000,000 should be taxed 849,580,000 - that would make them both hurt the same.

lol plz go. We should have one simple tax rate on all income, say 15%, on individuals and businesses. No phucking deductions, no need for 100,000 pages of tax rules, just a simple flat tax that says how much money did you make, ok, now give us 15% of it and we're done here. Think of how successful this country would be. Instead we have the most complicated tax system in the world combined with the second highest corporate tax rate that discourages companies from doing business here. It's a phucking joke. Companies spend tens of billions of dollars every year on tax compliance, especially after Sarbanes Oxley(which has proven worthless), think of how great it would be if they could spend that money innovating and hiring. Time to start from scratch because the system as it stands is phucking broken.

Yes we do. If we didn't there would either be A. no income tax like many Gulf Arab states or B. a flat tax rate like Hong Kong has of 15%

All you *******s that think we should tax the rich even more, simply because they are more successful than you, need to read this:

    Father & Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.
The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, ?How is your friend Audrey doing??
She replied, ?Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.?
Her wise father asked his daughter, ?Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.?
The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, ?That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!?

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ?Welcome to the conservative side of the fence.?

I was playing devil's advocate to the OP's incorrect argument.

You are completely right, but no liberal hippy is going to see it that way - sorry.

Everybody wants to tax the rich until they become rich. That said, I wish there was a way to tax differently those who bust their ass and actually create jobs with a business and those executive scum bags to bleed their companies dry with million dollar bonuses.

And if I was gay, I'd 100% **** Matt Damon.

I was unaware that my grades were already taxed to support services provided to me by the government. Oh right, not all taxes are income redistribution.
