    Can i just drink lots of protein shakes instead?

    Can I just drink say 3 protein shakes a day instead of eating real foods like chhicken? I'm not saying I don't eaat I still have lots of nuts, canned tuna but lots of the other protein foods take awhile to make. I admit I'm lazy.. University is dragging me down. How bad is it if I just drink protein shakes akl the time insteead of eating real foods?

    Also on a side note can I still take creatine if cutting?

    You will want to have the majority of your nutrition coming from whole food

    And yes you can take creatine while cutting

    It would be best to get your cals from whole food but I was in the same boat as you in college and for a while I ws doing 4-5 shakes a day to get my cals and protein in.

    I'm by no means an expert, but i have read some threads saying that creatine while cutting is basically a waste. Since the creatine has that "full" affect on you holding the water, it would be more ideal to use while during a bulking phase, if at all.

    In my experience it's better to get protein from whole food whenever possible and keep the protein shakes to a minimum. This past summer I was making great gains, then the winter came and my gains declined. I took a look back and realized that this summer I was grilling out every day, in the winter I stopped and tried to get most of protein from shakes. Even though I was getting about the same amount of protein in the winter I was in the summer, I wasn't making as good as gains.

    It doesn't make sense but that's what I've noticed this year. I don't understand it but I can't wait for the weather to get good so I can start grilling again.

    Not to mention if your cutting chances are there is a lot of sugar in the shakes your taking, which is counterproductive to what your looking to do.

    Most proteins aren't sweetened with sugar. What's wrong with sugar though?

    No they are low/no carb usually.

    Whole food is more filling and has more micronutrients. But whey is very high quality and provided you eat tons of veggies and good carbs with a quality multi you should be fine

    When I was doing my 12 weeks out for my competition i got so tired from all the carb depletion and cardio that i go to tired to cook my meals and for 1 week got lazy and relied on mainly 1 solid meal (lunch) and protein shakes for the rest. I lost significant size and strength in just 1 week. Your body needs real food because it has nutrients that shakes do not have.

    So to correct this I would boil 1 bag of chicken at a time and go shower while its boiling by the time im done, its pretty much done with. This would last me a few days. after getting my nutrition correct, my muscles started feeling more fuller and strenght maintained.

    I've never seen a protein powder with more than 4 grams of carbs. Most are really low in sugar/carbs so I could only see there being a problem if they mixed it with milk.

    Regarding the OP's question, what about actual MRP shakes instead of just protein shakes. Would MRP's be better for what he's trying to do than protein shakes? Something like Golden Gains or Core MRP?
