    Abdominal Pain when doing pullups

My abs hurt when I do pullups, is it just weak abs? I never considered my abs to be too weak, I dont struggle too much with planks or crunches... but recently i haven't been training them... the now when i do pullups, they hurt.. and make me wanna stop before my back/biceps give up.

...you are probably lifting your legs when you do pullups and flexing your abs.

a.k.a. stop swinging your legs and cheating by using their momentum to lift yourself

try keeping your body under control, ie: no kipping or swinging violently or anything like that.

stretching out your core before doing them cant hurt either, i personally like to hang from the bar a few seconds stretching out all my muscles first.

My abs occasionally get sore after Chinups, not pullups, if I hadn't been working my core consistently. I try and keep my body tense and straight and if you go up at an angle (say by leaning back slightly), if your body remains straight, that is done so by keeping your core tight so it makes sense. I do L-pullups sometimes too.

yeah i meant chin-ups... and i dont really sway.. i do until my form messes up, then i stop.. but i do come up at an angle i think... usually with my thighs parallel to the ground (if you get what I mean)........

but does that mean my core is not too weak, and its a form problem? or a bit of both?

yeah, lol... i get the idea with proper form... but... my pull up bar is in a doorway... so there's not much width or height.. so instead of touching the floor at the bottom of the pull... i raise my knees... however... this was never a problem before as far as i can remember
