It honestly all depends on YOUR work ethic. Do you leave the gym feeling dead or do you leave feeling fine and still have a lot of energy? Do you do a bunch of sets or just a few? Do you increase your weight frequently or do you stay at a set amount for a while?
If your going to decrease intensity then yes 2 times a week would work (AKA Volume training) but if you go balls to the wall once a week your giving yourself a BUNCH of recovery time meaning maximum growth (depending on how much intensity your throwing into your session) The only thing that sucks about training once a week is sometimes you might feel off and not 100% BUT IMO it's a ton harder to really push yourself a ton more each week rather than just do a **** ton of sets to overload the muscle. Plus it leaves you HUNGRY for the next workout because your working out less frequently. Hope this helps!
