I agree. I wouldn't check "African-American" though. Probably hurts you more than it helps for the simple reason that people in America think "black" when they see African-American, and when you're not black they probably will think that you are untrustworthy. I would suggest checking "Other" and writing in "Afrikaner."

IMO, I still use that term and NOT 'African-American'. I have first generation American friends (Eastern European) that are more foreign than blacks. Hell, I'm more 'new' to this country than most blacks are...
