average bench press for teen by weight?

i know the question may be on here a lot. But I am new to these forums. Anyone know the average bench press for a teenager by their weight? I weigh 144 benched 180 the other day. I used to be 130 benched 135 in August

The non-athletic teen is lucky to bench 95 lbs.

The average athletic teen can probably bench 135 lbs.

The average fat strong boy can probably bench 150 lbs or more.

The average teen who works out can probably bench 185 lbs.

The serious teen who works out can likely bench 225 lbs+.

This is all based on absolutely nothing.

Height would relate to arm length longer arms would be harder to bench, no?

You can't tell who can bench more if two people weight 175 lbs.

If you knew one had 9% BF the other had 33% you might get a better guess.

i personally believe that 99% of the time its some tall dudes excuse for having a sh*tty bench, but maybe thats just me.

I would agree that height doesn't make much difference but if they're like nearly 7ft with hella long arms then I could see a difficulty.

taller people will also (likely) be heavier and have longer muscles which would level out the playing field in terms of the shorter distance in which they argue

    yea...

its less impressive seeing a 300lb man bench 400 lbs than it is seeing a 150 lb man benching 300 lbs.

one is doing 1.33 times his body weight the other is doing 2 times his body weight.

What? Is that why they have weight classes in lifting?

    Which would you prefer?

    150 and benches 300

    Or 200 and benches 335

On more general terms u could assume someone who is:

    Untrained: Benches below his bodyweight
    Newly trained: Benches his bodyweight
    Advanced: Benches above his bodyweight

i'd say it applies to any age group

One, stop worrying about only the bench press and worry about your squats and deadlifts.

I'm guessing your asking this because everyone you know who talks about working out or lifting asks how much someone benches, but be aware... that like in most things people are going to bull-****.

I have heard 115 lbs kids claiming 300 lbs benches when they were 14 and obviously didn't know what they were talking about. The average person is going to exagerrate or bull-**** some stats.

Anyway the way I look at it is like this.

For someone who has never lifted before and is essentially average.

I would go with the 75 lbs to 135 lbs range one rep max.

With 135 being someone who is naturally stronger or who is heavier.

With someone who has been lifting for about a year or a little more.

    170-225 lbs.

For a serious high school athlete

    225- 315 lbs

For a very good lifter who is very dedicated and has been doing it for years

    315+ lbs.
