Anyone here have a Ruger 10/22 rifle?

I'll be getting a nice tax return here in a few days. Right now I own a Ruger SR9c that I plan to carry once I get my permit. I want a .22 rifle just to have fun with at the range and not spend a lot of money on ammo. The Ruger 10/22 is really cheap and there seems to be a big aftermarket for them. Also, the Archangel kit they make for them looks sick! Any other rifles I should be looking at for the under $300 price range? Thanks

Awesome rifle and my favorite .22 semi-auto. Look for an older used one with the metal trigger guard, barrel band and blued received. Ruger cheaped out with the new ones and started making components out of plastic...

theyre fun little guns and mine is 100% reliable. i clean it about every couple thousand rounds if that. huge aftermarket for customizing them. check out rimfirecentral.com

If you're not dead set on a semi-auto, you should check out the Savage MKII bolt action. DAMN accurate rifles, cheap, reliable.. Most from the factory with the accu-trigger will shoot .20" 3-shot groups at 50 yards... now granted most people can't shoot that well lol, but it's nice knowing the rifle will out-shoot you!

I have one my dad bought me years ago. It's a great little gun and I still enjoy shooting it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a .22.

I have one and love it!! It's a very reliable, light, short rifle. It is not the most accurate rimfire in my stable or even close but I realize it's limitations and go from there.

In the dirt cheap category I can't recomend the model 60 Marlin high enough. You can find them used for less than a hundred clams pretty regularly, they will almost always outshoot a 10/22 and parts can be had for a song just about anywhere and everywhere. It is a little larger than the 10/22 and it has a tubular magazine but it also holds almost twice as many rounds.
