Last year i think i had one or two weeks off all year if that but id like to know how often you should or it is recommended to take a short break from working out. I consider myself a reasonably serious bodybuilder im sure i heard every 8 weeks a one week break is acceptable. What is your opinion?

1 week for every 2-3 months sounds good to me, but like you I don't do that. If you bust your ****en ass off when you actually are in the gym, time off is a really good thing. I wish it didn't make me so uneasy to miss a week at the gym.

Usually I save my rest weeks for minor injuries, sickness, etc. I never take one unless I absolutely have to. As others said, it sounds great on paper, but it's very hard to mentally force yourself to do it when you feel fine and are kicking ass in the gym and don't really think you need it

Wrong section but, I tried to take one week off every 2-3 months, but there's always a week where I can't go to the gym due to external issues, so I just take those days as rest days and don't worry about choosing them myself.
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

IMO taking 'planned' breaks is ridiculous.
in my life, something always comes up, at some point in time, that forces me to take time off.
sickness, injury, vacation, work, funeral...whatever.
if i am healthy, have the time and am training daily (3day split), why would i purposefully take time off?
i only take time off when life gets in the way of working out."As sure as the world stands, you jf1 shall spend an eternity in Hell in eternal torment..."

[QUOTE=DPNZ;634145083]Yeah, you would definitely wouldn't want to try the "Exercise" section. Misc is probably spot on.
"Exercise Section"! LOL! Bwaaa! Rolls eyes. "How's my curl form in your squat rack?"
DPNZ, hope all you guys came through the quake okay.
