TRYING to Get bigger and stronger will this work?

Ok I have been working out for a long time but I am getting to a point where I cant up the weights anymore. Or get bigger. I eat enought, trust me. I take protein and creatine every now and again. I work each muscle once a week, used to twice a week but I overtrained.

I have tried to go heavier 6-8 reps and lighter 10-12 reps, and switch it up some. I also change some exercises every 4 weeks.

So since I cant seem to up the weights as much I figured I would try this:

    1. For example for chest I want to do 12 sets and I usually do 3 exercises 4 sets a piece. I figured I would reduce my sets do 3 a piece so I could progress in weights faster, like if my goal was 12 reps I could get to 12 reps on all three sets faster than if I was doing 4 sets. And since I still want 12 sets I will just add and exercise of 3 sets for chest.

    2. Like I said I have experimented with creatine, but havent gotten much results. I bought some cell tech and am hoping I can get some strengh gains out of it.

So does this seem like it will help? Have any advice?

You need to wait for results from creatine, took ~a month before I really thought it was working. I only took maintenance dose though.

Look into proven programs for getting stronger (Starting Strength, Bill Starr 5x5, Texas Method, etc...)

Cut back the volume a bit and focus on progression.

if you want to develop strength , 12 reps isnt going to help you as much as 5 reps with heavier weight would. if you want to get bigger+stronger you need to eat more than what you are eating right now, simple. i know you think its "enough" but its really not if you arent progressing, right? Try a power+hypertrophy split instead where one half of the week is focused on developing strength and the other is for mass.

If you can no longer gain on a simple type of poundage progression on the bar, like the linear progression of Starting Strength, you might need to use a periodized program to keep the gains coming.......at a greatly reduced rate.

In that case, no amount of experimenting with creatine etc will bust your plateau for more than a few weeks.

I hope you know that cheap creatine monohydrate is as good as expensive scams that claim to be "19 times as effective as regular creatine". Like as if CM can get you another 5-10lbs of muscle, so the "improved" version that is mostly sugar can get you another 95-190lbs of muscle.

Beyond novice, 5 3 1 or see above:)

Unless it is obvious to anyone who isn't blind that you lift weights, you might still benefit from a little more attention to big basic barbell exercises for enough reps:).
