This is just something I've observed with decently attractive girls, 6/10+. They'll have a bf who they aren't so excited about but can't stand the thought of being single, so they talk to other guys until they find a potential replacement. They then test him out a bit and when they see him as bf material they dump the other guy for the new one.
Been talking to this girl, we hit it off great and what not. Anyway during one of our conversations she checked her phone real quick and I noticed she had a picture of her with a guy, obviously her bf, as the background on her screen. She had this @_@ face when she saw I noticed it lol. This particular girl is in a long distance relationship so I felt bad for the guy that she's been talking to me for a couple weeks and never once actually mentioned him. Seems like the only girls who I really hit it off with are always involved with someone lol.

Do girls always have a guy lined up before they dump their bf?

I wasn't dating them, I'm just wondering if this is the norm or not, as based on my observations this appears to be the case.
There was a girl I was pursuing a while back that I was really into and I'm super glad I never got involved with her. At the time she had a bf, not long distance by any stretch of the imagination, and she was banging at least 4 other guys in a 6 month time span, with me as another potential interest of hers.6'4", 215

With a lot of women, yes. Sounds like you may be finding them in the wrong place or just not to the right one yet.
Monkey branching is the norm of low moral, crappy women. Not going to prejudge all women and say they do that because I've met many that just don't.
This is also a big part of it. These kind of women are usually insecure and need constant validation. Whatever hottest guy is validating them...they flock to.
Don't know how other guys do it. Knew a couple women like this and they are a ton of phuking work."Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." -William James

It depends on the girl, but obviously it doesn't happen in every single situation where a girl dumps a guy. I think there are some girls that will pretty much always monkey branch because they want to feel secure and therefore test the waters a bit. That could either be because they're unhappy with the relationship and it should end regardless, or because they're always looking to trade up. Both happen.
I haven't had a ton of relationships and always done the dumping though.

The trick is to dump her as soon as you realize she's doing this. Show her you don't put up with that chit and she needs to grow up. She'll keep thinking about you and spreading her legs for you but never go back to a girl that monkey branches.
Monkey branching is just as bad as cheating IMO."If in my say 80 years on earth I do more help than damage, then I feel complete."

I wouldn't say they ALWAYS have a guy lined up. But they certainly know their options. One thing I heard more times than I liked from females are the short, seemingly insignificant breakups. This is from talking to girls who I'm just friends with, so they are being honest. Too many stories of having a short breakup of like a weekend or slightly longer, where the guy doesn't think much of it. Both of them know they are going to get back together, it was a joke of a "breakup." She uses that short period of time to go out and get smashed by a guy she's been eyeing for awhile. You get back with her and think nothing's changed, but in reality someone went into her womb and did some redecorating.

Indifference is king in 2017. Some refer to it as "dread game." But that seems like a detour to me. "Dread game" is still manipulating someone else. Indifference is more enjoying the moment while also realizing human biology compels people to mate with as many people as possible. And with the instant gratification, constant dopamine rush of society in GENERAL (not just dating), it's fair to assume most people do not have the self-control to remain loyal to their spouse, and so many don't have the self-restraint to aim for the low hanging fruit of sexual conquests. (Banging / courting taken women.)
Girls have it easier because they don't have to put in the groundwork. They snap their fingers and they could have a half dozen dongs ready to split her in half inside of 10 minutes. Imagine guys having that power? I know I would be smashing a new girl every night. Setting up all kinds of kinky deprived sh!t.

lol @ anyone that decides to "take a break." I've never seen that work out long term. A few extra months maybe? Sure. But those relationships always seem to fail in the long run. That might have more to do with the fact they WANTED to take a break than it does with the break itself. I guess if both people are eyeing someone and they want to fuk around then whatever.
I think the more common scenario is that a girl asks to "take a break" because she wants to test the field and not feel like a cheater, and also might lack the courage to just break up with a guy directly. Girls don't seem to like finality, they want to leave the door unlocked in case the outside world is harsher than expected lmao.

Dude women always have options. Even if they're loyal, they have at least one other dude (more likely a couple) hovering around ready to pounce once she's single.
The ones knowingly "monkey branching" are thots trying to get the most of their young and hot years (18 - 26).
Like the old saying goes "women age like flowers and men age like trees". Theyre just getting it while its good. Can't blame them. Just don't catch feelings
