Frank has been like a brother to me for over 10 years, my screen name isnt my real name. He has awalys had high cholesterol(whole family does). I got the call right when he went down-before they took his body to the hospital, his heart rate was 180 and irregular, he was training with a surgeon and another friend, I almost went yesterday with them, but because I have a heart problem that recently popped up I decided not to go to play it safe. Frank was more worried about me than himself-thats the kind of guy he was.
Over the past 10 years through good and bad times Frank awalys kept it positive no matter what, when he got screwed for tons of $$$ by a certain nutrition company he still kept it positive, finally after 8-9 years he met a great girl and got married, I was so happy for him, they were planning a baby.
He wasnt on any gear because he just came off a shoulder injury and was training at 40% his normal. I trained with him from 2000-2005 4-6 times a week. I loved frank like a brother and he loved me the same. We were suppost to go to the gun range today, last time we went it was closed for repairs, this time Frank cant go.
The lession here is dont awalys focus on the external appearance-something Frank awalys said, keep everything healthy. He had just signed up a new client a few months back and was planning to have everything looked at; I wish he would have went sooner,
Here is what happened:
I spoke to the DR he was traning with and this is what he said happened, He did a set and couldnt catch his wind after it-towards the end of the workout(i didnt ask what body part), so he tried to walk it off and get his air(I never seen him do that ever), he couldnt. He sat down and he was at 180bpm, and started sweating alot(Frank never was a sweaty guy FYI) the Dr he was training with a body builder for 20yrs himself told me he got it down to 150bmp when they layed him on the floor, then the **** hit the fan, his beat became very irregular(I believe this because a very smart Dr/surgeon was doing the work) he gave him mouth to mouth until the paramedics arrived very quickly, they spent about 20 minutes(this I heard 2nd hand at Golds-the 20 minute part). When they got to the hospital they did get a slight beat or rythem for just a few seconds and he flat lined after that RIP. His next client who Frank was to train at 4 walked up on everything and watched and went to the hospital. The Dr who told me all of this less than a hour after it happened has trained with Frank for 9 years, The Client Dr a internal medicine Dr Went to the hospital and saw the slight beat then the flat line. I spoke to both Docs, the training partner and client.
I dont make up stories, I'm crying so bad right now its almost impossible to type, But I want people to know what really happened, not a rumor mill BS accounting of the facts.
I had to stop training with them in 05 when my back went bad(I had 5 back operations) I just started back with them last month, and noticed a probelm with my heart-I was lucky to have warning signs, Frank wasnt. He finally had everything going his way when he passed. He told me last week "Finally everything is going good for me", This last thursday I left frank a Voice mail, he didnt reply which was unusual, he was with a client driving and riding in race cars, his friend Jim said it was one of the greatest days of Franks life.
There was alot more to frank than Bodybuilding, but he was proud of his Pro Card and never liked the guys who "Too good to talk to anyone" because they were a pro, he was very humble, gifted with a body thats one in a billion, and a bad heart. This didnt have to happen IMO. He was there for me thick and thin as I was for him. You see I have no family and Frank was my brother,

I just called Franks widow and asked if they were going to do a autopsy she said no because of the cost, I said I'd pay for it, I really want to know what happened. She is calling as I type this to see if its not to late to order a aotopsy. I will post the results.
