problem is, "cheap" accoustic guitars are usually CHEAP and crappy
Decent accoustics start around $200-250 or so,
Guitars below that have action that is too high, they seldom stay in tune, etc.. IE they may make her NOT want to play
Cheap electrics are more forgiving and a cheap amp can still sound okaylift big 2 get big

I need acoustic guitar advice. I mostly played metal, and I guess pretty sloppily. I started playing acoustic and changing my genre, and I notice my timing kind of sucks. I also have trouble switching up my patterns, i usually end up playing the same pattern through the whole song and it sound stale. any advice?

I have an ESP Horizon FR 2

My hands get very sweaty when I play and my fingerboard gets grimy very quickly.

That would just ruin the strings and fingerboard faster.

I'm sure this has been asked plenty, so I apologize. I asked this question in the misc and realized it was probably more appropriate here.
I'm looking to pick up a guitar in the upcoming week or so. No I don't have dreams of being a rock star, but it is something I've always wanted to learn. I grew up learning to play drums and piano - I've learned 2-3 songs on a guitar a long time ago. Just moved into a place on my own so I feel like I'll have a little more foreveralone.jpg time and figured this could be a perfect opportunity to learn.
Here is a website for place near me. I've linked to the acoustic guitar page (hope it works). I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I'd say my budget is pretty flexible (honestly because I really don't know). I want to start on something that'll lead to a better chance of sticking with it so I'd rather spend a little more money as opposed to saving a few bucks for a low quality guitar.

Could anyone recommend some medium-difficulty solos to learn? I used to be able to shred like mad back when metal was my main style, but after switching to blues, I seem to have lost my technique. I'm looking for some fun solos to learn to get my chops back

Thanks! I just checked it out. It's REALLY good! It will definitely be the solo to learn tomorrow. I'm learning 1 solo a day to get my sh!t back together. Yesterday, I did December Flower - In Flames and relearned a small part of 17th Century Chicken Picking - Chris Impelliteri. Today, I relearned Disconnect - Megadeth because I've been listening to it a lot lately and it's just really good. Slowly but surely, I'm getting there!

I used to frequent www.jemsite.com 's forums. It's mostly on Ibanez Jems and other Ibanez guitars, but the people there are really nice and very helpful. Their multimedia section is also inspiring as hell! Thing is though, that forum seems almost dead now. Barely any new posts are made. It's still good to check out.
Also, feel free to PM me anything. I'm a little rusty now (working on it and guaranteed to kick as$ again before Summer ends), but I have been playing for over 10 years and I have done my research regarding guitars and gearThe opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity. -Rollo May

There are off-days in every program too. I have finals at the moment so I'm not practising as much as I wanted to. And that Pretender solo is a b!tch. There aren't any good tabs either so I'm relying on ear/youtube videos. Finished half of it today, still got the outro. I'll do that tomorrow
Next stop: relearning Technical Difficulties by Racer X. I used to be able to nail it. It'll take a while but I should be able to play it soon.
What's going on with the other guitarists ITT? What are you learning/practicing/playing at the moment? The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity. -Rollo May

If you read the reviews there, you'll notice that some of the guitars come perfectly set-up, and others come just like they came out of the factory. I've never ordered from them so I can't tell from experience, but it sounds like it's a coin flip.
