any more questions, are you trying to be a smartass, do you want to be negged so far in the red you'll never get out.
He was a sloppy player, held the guitar too low and drank too much before shows, which makes the live versions worse.
On studio albums he was better, but not much, especially on faster runs
Huge influence, but sloppy
Have no idea how many takes he did to get the Stairway solo so nice...Last edited by ctgblue; 01-18-2013 at 04:59 AM.

Sure you can. In fact, how you go about being a great guitar player is by stealing riffs from old blues players.
I personally think that that SIBLY video is in the top 5 greatest guitar performances I've ever seen. It seriously drives me crazy with how fukking good it is.
I don't actually think JP was the GOAT though. IMO it was Alex Lifeson. He took what Jimmy Page did and brought it to a new universe:

I agree, Lifeson was MUCH better than Page. Maybe Page was a better writer and producer...but his playing actually hurts my ears. lol Goddamn it's so bad.
But I still think neither of them is the GOAT (or close to it), but that's my opinion. The assassins of freedom tend the burning of truth.

lol
out of all the guitarists from the 60s and 70s, why does Jimmy Page continually stand out? There were so many rock bands at the time who were TRYING to do what he did... but only he succeeded. Jimmy Page is AT LEAST in the top 5 greatest guitarists. I'm not saying any more on this because if you don't like Led Zeppelin you're subhuman

I can do what you did too, look; If Jimmy Page is amongst your favorite guitarists then you're most likely a chit guitarist yourself that has no appreciation for real talent, you fail to recognize what clean playing with variety is (brb predictable solos, brb abusing the pentatonic scale, brb brb). Furthermore, he looks like a 70 year old Vietnamese hooker and you're a ******* if you like him.
Also this guy completely styled on Page

Anyone know of a tutorial to over-haul tuning a electric guitar? I got a Starcaster (indonesia) and I want to learn how to adjust the height/action/truss/etc...Anyone got a complete tutorial website for makin sure this puppy stays in tune/plays okay?
Also, how does one "clamp the tremolo"?
I read people changing the pickups, adding springs, etc...and I have no idea what they mean.

Looking at the main rock albums at that time, Zep's music was a little out there as they incorporated rockabilly, reggae, soul, funk, classical, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, pop, Latin and country yet still found commercial success. Their resume speaks for itself whether we like 'em or not. Jimmy Page and his guitar skills or lack thereof is somewhat irrelevant now as his success has already been proven and history written. Some of the most well known guitarist in the world are not anywhere near the best guitarist, but are the most influential. "Greatest Guitarist" is a hard thing to define.

What you guys think of an Epiphone 1954 gothic explorer. Looks cool as phuck but I'm worried about the clean sound, seems like it's for metal
