If you have 2 guitarists and the lead only plays infrequent riffs connecting verse/bridge/chorus (think Don't look back in anger by Oasis), whilst rhythm strums chords throughout the entire song. Could the lead guitarist play the power chords emphasizing the chords played by the rhythm guitarist? I apologize if the question is poorly worded lol..

Didn't know that, not too familiar with him only his music. Is he yet another pretentious dick who thinks he's better than other guitarists? Lots of those in the jazz genre
Also Selkies solo is just sickening, get all sorts of feels from it.. On the topic of hard metal solos @3:22. Starts easy and then gets absurd but sounds so beautiful

For classical this one is pretty easy and sounds cool
shameless plug: just covered it on youtube today but its pretty chit compared to how the pros play it www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRs2cTRnJXk
For electric what is your skill level exactly? If you're into rock my favourite solos are these and they're pretty easy

Any brahs here have lots of experience playing 7 or 8 string guitars? Is there a big difference between a 7 and 8 string when you're trying to tune down low on the thicker strings? Not interested in playing "djent" or anything that sounds remotely similar.

I would experiment with it if I were you. I have and according to my ear and personal preference, playing block power chords on top of your rhythm guitarist doesn't sound good, but that's my preference. I prefer to play arpeggiated versions of the same chord or further inversions/suspensions if the mode allows it. I don't do straight arpeggios but I will pick melodic notes in each of the chords while emphasizing the root as the same chordal structure. difficult to explain if you don't have a theory background, but essentially what I'm doing is portrayed perfectly in the verse of Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young. he doesn't play straight arpeggiated chords, but rather picks them in a 1,3,2,4 string pattern
learned that one in high school guitar class. there are a great many pieces for classical guitar that sound beautiful with minimal expertise. Harry Murrell has arranged a few of the LOTR pieces which I have learned over the last week. this one is my favourite and very easy:
his Skyrim arrangements are on-point too, my favourite being this one:
Tarrega was a genius and a master. His stuff starts at about a grade 7 level. I studied his work for a year or so and found that this one was the most manageable:
(plus there's a babe playing it who's basically topless. hhhnnngggg @ that tone)
I don't have a lot of experience on extended range guitars but the more strings you have, the thicker they get. If it's set up properly, it should feel the same as tuning a 6 string. The only difference you'll have to become accustomed to is the increased neck size. The 7 strings I've played have a thick neck about the same chunky width as my classical. That's about as big as I get, 8 would have to alter my technique I imagine*** Misc Cigar Crew ***

I ventured into the Seven string world a little over a year ago. I thought I wanted to go eight, but the necks feel like a plank. The seven string necks are wider, but still 'feel like a guitar' to me, where the eights feel like a 'plank'.
Stylistically, a seven is very easy to get the hang of. Start by playing blues and using the B string as the '5' turnaround. Once you do this, you start to see the possibilities. Power chords are the same on the B as on the E so it's easy.
When I run triplets down the neck, the B and E are usually the same pattern so it's just a matter of getting used to holding the extension on the patterns.
I don't use super heavy strings, I run a 9-42 six set with a 54 B, because I like speed picking and am using a 25.5 scale.
I'm on my 4th seven, a DBZ Barchetta RX-7 hardtail and am building a seven with a floyd and some Tesla Plasm 71 passive pickups.
The best thing is to try them both, but the jump to seven is easy, the eight you gotta want it for a reason IMO.lift big 2 get big

" frameborder="0"> I love watching videos of miscers. No homo.
To my surprise you played that slower than the `pro` did.
But anyways I was talking about rock and metal music though. Although I'm always open to new classical music. I just don't feel like you can beat carulli for beginners.
My skill level is lame. I have a lot of dexterity I just don't have much knowledge or formal training or can even read music sheets.

yah I have long hair too mayne. We would be bffs in another life <3. N-no homo
I love martial art I love grappling although I have more of a wrestling background
But yeah man that's usually my game plan muscle memory. And I just funk around when I'm composing too...I feel eventually at this pace I'll be able to make a nice classical inspired short piece. The more and more type of music I try to play the easier it is to improvise and whatnot.

Iive been playing less and less video games so I can learn more guitar. I think its time I invest in a new guitar.
What's the cheapest best guitar? Anybody have recommendations? it has to be acoustic... I wouldn't mind a steel string...but I am looking to play classical music. I have an ibanez acoustic electric guitar. Cost 300$, kinda old,
Looking to spend under 600$

if you're looking to play classical, get a classical. steel string acoustics sound very tinny and you won't get anywhere near the tone you want from a classical piece. do some shopping on Musiciansfriend.com. Takamine, Yamaha, and Godin are good brands to look at. I play a 1975 Takeharu

buying used is always a smart idea if you know what to look for in a guitar that has flaws. Things like proper intonation throughout all frets, obvious body flaws/scuffs/scratches/dents etc that could affect sound output or tone, headstock quality and overall health/quality of the guitar. I'm sure there are youtube videos teaching how to identify a shiitty guitar, I would look into it before trying to buy used. Obviously none of this applies if you're going to buy used through a major retailer like Long & McQuade or GuitarCenter, though you're going to be paying more than you would be if you used craigslist or equivalent
that's how to do it. gotta keep your volumes appropriate and blended

yeah brah saw one video yesterday. he put it in perfectly something along the lines of
"but since youre not a millionair, you have to look at the guitar, and see how the price was cutdown, and if it matters to you"
then he went on a long list of the guitar parts and what he feels are good parts and stuff.
anyways im gonna make a checklist of the parts to ask what theyre made off and stuff.

My guitar teacher (irl) is telling me to do the chords: D-C-G...but to strum the lowest string of said chord twice, then strum all the strings and then move to the next chord...strumming the lowest string twice followed by strumming all the strings of the chord.
Yet in the video... Marty is strumming the lowest cord twice (like my teacher does)...BUT he then picks B and then G. (makes than dun-ahhh sound)...which is different from what my guitar teacher is telling me to do...which is strum all the strings in the chord after I pick the lowest string of the chord twice.
Marty (youtube) sounds better than what my teacher is telling me... who is right? Lol

Its probably relative. If you want to get 'technical', whomever plays it the way Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote it is 'right'. However play it the way you want to, which is the version that sounds better.
I've revised some of the songs my guitar teachers have taught me over the years and occasionally I'll find a 'better way' to play some of them.
