My friend's lab was going crazy outside so we went to check why. We found this dog hiding in the grass next to a tree and yelping. She's really skinny (Her ribs are literally poking out) so we gave her some food. There was a white van driving around, not sure if they were the owners or not, but fuk them for letting a puppy get so skinny.
What do Misc? Give her to the Animal Defense League (no kill shelter) or keep her?
EDIT: Pretty sure I'm keeping her. Took her to the vet yesterday and she isn't microchipped. No collar + no chip + underfed = go to hell previous owner. It's possible she got away, but how do you let a 10 week old puppy wonder off? Also, the vet also thinks that because she has abnormally large ears (about an inch longer than normal) and her back knees are weak, that a breeder likely dumped her. Breeders, pls go.
Got her initial vaccinations done yesterday and taking her back for more in three weeks. Will get her spayed ASAP. I was going to take a video of her playing with my mom's dog, but the vet said it's best to keep her away from other dogs until she gets all of her shots. The vet said she's a little skinny (a little? I can see her shoulder bones, spine, most of her ribs, and tail bones... looks bad to me but I dunno) and she has tapeworm. Hopefully that's the worst of it. This is my first time taking care of a dog on my own (had a German Shephard when I grew up) but I'm all in. I love dogs, even though I'm kinda allergic to them. challengeaccepted.jpeg
I'm working on crate training and potty training but this dogs are notoriously stubborn. She was whining really loud last night so I let her sleep with me (also I'm keeping her at my friend's house who has hardwood floors, and I felt bad that my friend couldn't sleep). She would sleep for about 2 hours then start to squirm so I'd take her out to pee. This cycle continued until about 4 AM lol I'm a little worried about leaving her in her crate and pooping in it because she's supposed to be pooping out the tapeworms. I don't want her eating that sh!t and getting more sick.
I forgot to take my camera with me yesterday so I couldn't get as many pics, but I did get another pic of her sleeping in the car...
UPDATE: FUUUUUUUUUUU moral dilemma!
Really don't want to give her back. The house looked real shady (dead landscaping everywhere, broken down car with a tarp in the driveway, etc.). The sign was posted four houses down from where we found her too.
Don't give a fuk about a reward. Already spent about $200 on her though between taking her to the vet and buying her food, toys, etc. If I gave her back I'd ask to be reimbursed.
What if I have some little kid's dog?!
