Right so im just curious as to whether doing less reps with a heavier weight would mean bigger muscles? When i say bigger muscles i mean like big, bulky muscle with not so much definition, like rugby player muscle.
Im currently doing 3 exercises per muscle group consisting of 4 sets of 8 reps.

If only it were that simple.
Everyone will have a slightly different response to different set/rep schemes, and that's also the case within a single individual. For example, a particular rep range might work very well to build, say your quads, while your biceps may not respond at all to the same plan.
You have to put in the time, do some structured experimenting, and log your results. After a year or two, you'll have a fairly clear picture of how you best gain mass/strength.No brain, no gain.
