I carb up every 2 weeks, and eat about 1000g of carbs, keeping fats under 80g and at least 160g of protein.
I always allow myself to really enjoy the carb up, so give me delicous ideas!
Turkey Sheppards Pie (Fuking CASH!)
Cheese Pizza
COLD CEREAL (EPIC)
Whole fresh LOAF of bread with NUTELLA (omfg)
Pasta and Turkey Meatballs
Any delicous ideas?
What desserts can I have?
Low fats preferably, but really just give me any ideas

how can you get less than 80g of fat with a cheese pizza?
I don't remember specifically what it was in Lyle's book, but after reading it I do not keep track of fat any more. I think it was showing how much fat you could eat on carb-up day and still not start storing fat. The number was high enough that I just don't worry about it.
That said my carbup is normally
Eggs / Sausage / Bagel / pancakes
Spaghetti / garlic bread
potatoes / meat
croissants
Yank Nuttella / not that english stuff as it sucks (kidding I don't eat either)
and a sheet cake with cream cheese frosting
and lastly (my favorite) nachos and quesadillas.

- Banana nut cheerios with skim milk
- Frosted Flakes with skim milk
- Slow cook lean red meat with potatoes, carrots, onions
- Baked yam fries/potatoe fries (haven't done them in awhile) with honey mustard dip
- Corn soup. Skim milk with a tap of cream, yellow canned corn with salt and pepper bring to a boil and simmer. Damn good, you wouldn't believe how good til you try it.
- Cinnamon pancakes and ED smith sugar free (sucralose) butter syrup. If you can squeeze the fat in, try spreading a little whipped peanut butter over top then topping it with maple syrupLast edited by johnPNY; 02-13-2011 at 11:53 AM. Reason: whipped peanut butter pancakes that's why

All things that would generally be off-limits on keto - and last time I checked, sugar counts as a carbohydrate, no?
I personally find it's better (for me at least) to treat my carb-up day as an 'anything and everything I can't eat for the rest of the week' day. This generally causes me to lean towards high-carb, high-fat, low protein things. Sure none of those are really pure-carbs, but for most people, spending every single day obsessing over the exact macro breakdown and calorie count of what they eat will destroy their ability to stick to their plan. Use your carb-up day as a eat whatever you want day, without worrying about it, and you're pretty much guaranteed to get in your daily carb quota, as your body is craving them. Why not do it with foods you're going to enjoy, rather than being a stick in the mud about macros?
BRB eating 50 pieces of plain whole wheat bread on carb-up day because that gives me exactly 1000g carbs, 75g of fat, and 200g of protein.
If that works for you, great.
Me, I usually put away nutella stuffed cinnamon buns or french toast, half a cheesecake, most of a 2L of coca-cola, a grilled cheese sandwich, some kind of pasta dish with a cream sauce, and some chocolate and ice cream on my carb up day. I end the day satisfied and happy, ready for another week of weighed portions of chicken, broccoli, and almonds, and another 2lb of fat loss. Would my progress be a little faster if I was a little more careful about my carb-ups? Maybe. But quite frankly, I don't care.
Do whatever makes you happiest while still enabling you to achieve your goals. Rock on etc.

I think people get carb up days, and cheat's a bit mixed up. Eating a whole cheese cake, mozz stix, a whole pizza, onion rings, sausages, cake and frosting, etc will do nothing for you on carb up days but hinder your progress. Granted, everyone should have a cheat meal every now and then whenever you feel you deserve it, but calling cheat days carb up days kind of defeat the purpose of carb up's IMO.

But for me, for example, I'd much rather let myself go and eat whatever I want on a carb up and maybe gain a pound back than eat oatmeal all day and not have to worry about that pound. I'm making progress the other 6 days a week, nothing wrong with taking a day off even if it sets me back a little bit.
Now, when that starts hindering your overall progress it's a completely different story...

Cheat meals are supposed to be meals that you reward yourself with when you are on a cut (I actually don’t like using the term ‘cheat meal’, much rather prefer ‘reward’ because saying cheat makes it sound like you are doing something wrong), things that you generally would not eat, because it is (for lack of a better word) not "healthy". Things like pizza, deserts, candy, etc. Cheat meals are one meal where you can cheat, and these are usually OK when cutting. Cheat DAYS, are days when people shove their face with foods, extremely high in fat, carbs, and usually low protein (but because of eating so much, I would think they get enough protein for the day). I don't think anyone on a serious cut would ever recommend a cheat DAY.
Cheats are not OK "as long as it is planned", if you are on keto and plan on eating a big plate of pasta, are you saying that that is ok because it is planned? But like you said, if you are comfortable eating 6 days clean, and one day off, have at it. There are better options to doing dirty carb ups, which do hinder your progress no matter which way you look at it.A year from now, you’ll wish you started today.

My carb ups usually involve baked potatoes, baked beans, lots of wholemeal bread, rice cakes, apples, skimmed milk, cereals, chicken breast and piles of salad. I have one chocolate bar as a treat while I'm out doing a 10 mile hill walk on carb-up day (usually Saturday) and maybe some kettle chips now and again.
Fish and chips are very tempting but the trans fats scare me. I may have to give in to an Indian take-away one day soon as well. :P

My best carb ups... both in taste and the way I feel usually start with fat-free froyo and continue with whole grain pastas and proatmeal.
If I'm straight up cheating... beer and drunk food.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?p=608052853&posted=1#post608052853

Usually kick it off with a ice cold can of mountain dew pwo (the one with sugar, not hfcs) then pound bowls of lucky charms and fruity pebbles with skim milk. For a mid day meal I eat some sushi (favorite part), and I'll scatter fruit through out the whole day like peaches, apricots, berries, etc. Will throw in a little cookies and maybe a slice or two of pizza, but not go crazy cause they got a bit of oil in them and I try to keep under or around 80gms of fat through out the process. That's just me, may sound boring, but I'm trying to restore glycogen levels not eat whatever.

Nah, just..
Haha whoa there man. My bone to pick is mostly for the fact that the question at hand is 'carb up foods', meaning foods that are both good and appropriate for a carb up.
Simply listing foods that are just good in general, is kind of a no-brainer really. I could list 5000 things that are just freaking awesome to eat, but almost all of them aren't going to be appropriate for what is happening on a scientific level in your body during a carb up.
I've been on keto for over half a year now, and have learned a fair share from just experience. I don't do macros or counting food at all anymore, I just eat as I've learned and well. I treat myself to some things on my carb up that I feel like having without reason, but going for an all out face stuffing fest for the whole thing is a good way to almost entirely defeat the entire weeks progress, even set things back.
Don't know how long you've been on keto, but if your goals are anything other than consistent weight gain then doing entire ice cream, pizza, chips and cookie days are going to set in at some point. I prefer to eat a few things here and there on weekends, knowing that it's really only a week in between periods and I eat a VERY enjoyable diet during the week anyways.
Sorry to be such an ******* about it, it's just amazing how some people get way too carried away with their carb up and think that it's harmless.
