Go for it!
The only issue I've read about is older lifters usually need more recovery time, so pay attention to your body and rest when you need it.--
For once you have tasted flight, you will walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you long to return.

No one here is going to laugh at you--you should be proud of yourself for not being one of those people who stops putting effort into their health and bodies simply because of the birth year on their driver's license
I love Ernestine S. and respectfully submit for your consideration--the late great Jack LaLanne!!

wow!!
was good to read this pot and good to know that your never to old to train.
there was an athlete here who ran and trained for years right up until she past away doing charity runs and marathons one fit lady unfortunatly no longer with us but a true inspiration.
i had a convo with a PT at the gym the other week, ten yers ago i did some course wotk and recieved my first level in fitness at college at the ripe old age of 35 unfortunatly i let is slip. it annpyes me now when i think about it, anyways was talking to the PT said i wish i had kept with it, their answer was whats wrong with doing the final part this year and getting a placement here in the gym to lean!! i was gobsmacked their answer to me was you trained for a lot of years you just need to get back in to the wing of things and finish your study, dont let age hold you back
now thwe photo of the lady above in this thread is truelly inspirational all i can say to it is WOW!!

A guy at my old gym didnt start til his late fifties, by then he had had several heart attacks and a triple bypass surgery & when he started he was fourty kilograms overweight. Last year he competed for the first time in a veterans comp and won in his age/weight category, he is an amazing man and NOONE laughs at him.
Go for it, the only reason to be laughed at is that someone else is insecure and seeing you threatens their tiny ego's. If they laugh, just use that as extra motivation cause you must be doing something right to make them feel insecure enough to laugh.

Go for it. Studies have shown resistance training even helps the elderly in nursing homes regain their strength and improve mobility and quality of life. It's truly never too late.
