Science is replicable. Destroy all science books and remove the knowledge of science from everyone on earth and eventually it will build itself back up again, eventually to the same level at which it was destroyed.
However, destroy all bibles and religions in a similar manner and new religions would slowly form, but unlike science, the new religions would be so blatantly different, the chances of a Christian/muslim/buddhist/jewish etc god ever becoming a big religious figure are literally non-existent.
This goes hand in hand with my theory that theists aren't wrong in believing the universe could have been created by god, but to claim it was a christian, buddhist, muslim, jewish, etc god responsible for the creation of the universe is imbecilic on the most basic logical and rational levels."I'd rather be judged by 12 than be out my watch and wallet"

The point of evolution is that it's a self-propagating mechanism not for you, but for your genes. You're really nothing more than a capsule carrying your genetic code. So, your genes don't care whether they're spreading via you or via your offspring.
So, as long as you have offspring before you die, there's no evolutionary advantage to your genes for keeping your body alive. So, the body never evolved a way to stay operating past a certain average number of reproductions.
This is sort of a hard to understand concept for many people. To better understand the rationale behind it, read the wikipedia article on the selfish gene. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Selfish_Gene
If you already understand the basics of evolution then things should make more sense after reading that.

How about a question for you. Theists seem to be boggled by the idea that the universe was created from "nothingness". What do you believe created your god of choice? If nothing created your god, it must have sat around existing for an infinite period of time doing absolutely nothing until suddenly deciding on a whim to create the universe (which is immense by the way, which makes it seem a bit odd that this god would be so focused on Earth and humanity specifically but that's another matter). The lifespan of this universe is infinitesimal compared to infinity. Why create a universe now? How does the concept of the universe suddenly existing (a huge oversimplification of the Big Bang Theory but we don't have time for that ****) bother so many theists yet the idea of a god existing for an eternity in nothingness suddenly deciding to create a universe make sense?
Also, you're constantly stating things that "can't be proven" that have already been proven. Your understanding of science is too poor for you to be asking these questions.
Atheists don't care to disprove god's existence, that would be like needing to disprove the existence of a flying spaghetti monster to someone who believes in it. If they believe in something like that, it's already too late. The problem is when scientifically illiterate people brainwash children and influence public policy.Last edited by Winningest; 02-11-2011 at 01:00 AM.

Yes it can, dreaming = conductive and active brain funtion outside of the cerebellum (the cerebellum is always running, to keep the heart beating etc.)
We can measure if there is brain activity though many methods, such as a Electroencephalography, Pet scan, MRI, CT. etc.
We can measure when a persons brain is not active.
