I'll post up my stats and pics soon, but I won't worry about being in the competition. Can't wait to see the results.

Haha yeah the cost adds up, but the lack of supps hasn't had any effect compared to when I was using them. Weight still goes up and down the same.

Good idea. People have said to take fish oil, so next time at the store I'll get some.

I think the best part about this competition only being 2 months is that if any of us are gonna see any real results we're gonna have to SERIOUSLY push ourselves. It's hard to make any noticeable gains in 2 months but I'm sure with the determination (as you mention) everyone seems to have in this thread we all will. Welcome to the contest brah.

Haha the use of no homo around here always cracks me up. Thanks guys.

My goal is to reach 185lbs lean with a decent chest, traps and legs. Three things I believe are lacking. Hopefully that weight can be reached by the end of the year.

Hi everyone. Another skinny guy here seeking for motivation and advice. After a lifetime of being skinny I'm really really sick of it. Had previous attempts I was too stupid to stick with it (age and everyone keep telling you that you can't do it). I am 26 now and it is now or never.

I am 5'11' and 115 pounds. After you see my pics probably lot of you will think that there is somebody even more skinny than you and that you are not that bad afterall I think if I ever get to 155 I'll be the happiest guy ever.

I'm eating +3500 calories (I think I'm close to 4000 but as it is still hard for me to calculate the exact amount I always round it to the lowest amount, but 3500 for sure) divided on 6 meals.

Started 1 month ago in the gym 4 days a week working every muscle every day. What the guy at the gym told me to do. On Monday I should start a new routine so I will post it in the hopes that someone can tell me if it is right or should just not listen to the guy ever again and do something different.

Felt completely ridiculous taking pictures with the phone in front of the toilet mirror ( lol ) but here are my pics.

Hey man, no need to be ashamed. Did you see my pics? HAHA I'm skinny as hell too! I can tell you that "the guy at the gym" is wrong on the fact that you need to work every muscle, every day. It's quite the opposite...You need to give your muscles time to recover from the days workout. I.E., Biceps on Monday, Chest and Triceps Tuesday, Back Wednesday, Shoulders Thursday, Legs Friday, Abs 3x a week. If you go hard in the gym, your muscles will need sufficient time to recover. If not, they will get overtrained and actually start to "eat" themselves. Make sure you are getting the proper amount of protein, carbs, calories, good fat, etc. It'll take a while but you can do it!!

I would have to disagree here :P It's perfectly fine doing a full body routine instead of a split and it is even often recommended for complete beginners. I've been working out on and off for more than a year now and I can honestly say that I didn't start experiencing any real gains until I started on a full body routine (however, we're all different and to each his own ). For instance, rippetoes is an amazing routine to begin with especially for skinny guys like ourselves. Lastly, if you're going to do a split (or any kind of routine for that matter) it is generally recommended to have a day of rest between the muscle groups even if you aren't working the same ones. A common split would be like...

    Monday: Chest/tri
    Wednessday: Back/bi
    Friday: Leg/Shoulder

Finally, why abs 3x a week? I understand the desire for abs, but they aren't any different than any other muscle in your body and also need rest. Besides, if you are squatting and deadlifting (which any decent routine should include) you'll be working your abs on those days as well.

Just my 2 cents. Don't mean to offend or "lecture" anyone, if whatever you're doing works for you then by all means do continue

    ======

On a different note, hope everyone is doing good on their journey! I personally just hit a PR yesterday and am still proud as hell. Don't you LOVE the feeling of success you get when you think you aren't going to make a lift and then push through and make it? It's like you're on top of the world! I swear to god that feeling alone feels better than anything else. My squat is still quite low, but I managed to push 60kg (~140lbs) for 5 reps for 5 sets. I know it's gonna take awhile but I got my eyes set on pushing 100kg(~220lbs) even if it's only for 1 rep. Pushing 60kg felt sick, I can't even begin to imagine how amazing it must feel to squeeze out a rep at 100kg Anyone else hit a PR? Squatting is probably my favorite lift, what about you guys? Any strength goals here?

I just joined this forum a few days ago, and this group now.

I just turned 23 and have been trying to bulk up since I was 15. I haven't had the success I would have liked and lately I've found that I have no motivation at all. Not just for weight lifting but with anything. I quit my job and instead of finishing my university degree I cut down to part time. I spend most of my time on the internet reading about weights and other things but never actually do anything I learnt.

That is why I joined this group. You guys are making some great progress and it is a good community you seem to have here, I hope to get some inspiration from you guys and eventually inspire people myself. I've spent a lot of money over the years on useless supplements and various weight training books, but I know the trick is just to pick a good routine that revolves around the compound lifts (bench, squat, deadlift, pull up, dip, military press etc) and stick with it.

First off, no offense taken haha. I've just heard/read everywhere how it's bad to work the muscles every day. I'm obviously no pro lol. As far as the abs go, it's just another thing I was told by a trainer.

Congrats on hittin' a PR! I'm personally right around where you for the strength goal on squats. Good luck!

Though I'm not currently skinny as fawk, figured it'd be good to post some pics here for motivation. (keep in mind i'm ~6'1)

    ~140lbs

~170lbs (after about 8 mos of lifting)

Now I'm sitting ~215-220. No recent pics as of yet, waiting until july when i hit my 3 year mark of dieting/lifting.

When I was ~140lbs, all I ate was fast food and junk. Got tired of being a skinny *******, now smashing weight.

Some weight I push (not impress, imo)

    Squat: 405x6
    Deads: 335x12
    Bench: (incline bb) 245x6
    Military press: (bb) 205x7

    GET AFTER IT, BRAHZ!

Its all good brah everyone starts somewhere. I started when I entered college at a weight of 115 and now im 156 currently. To help eat alot of calories I sometimes will have a meal usually the same time everyday that will be about 1250 - 1500 calories This really helps and one of the things I eat normally are these rosetta bags of like ravioli or pasta with cheese inside. Once you start eating more consistently it becomes a lot easier. Other meals I eat are around 500 - 700 cals during the day.

First off, good to see you here! Second, don't give up! Making your body into what you want it to be is a LIFESTYLE. You have to diet just right, workout right, get enough rest, etc. It's hard work but when you make your first gain, it'll be WELL worth it and you'll feel amazing. I've made tiny gains and it's made me addicted to lifting and transforming my body. As far as supplements, a lot of people think they are magic and will make you grow overnight. They are meant to be used with strict diet and exercise and they are only just that, a supplement. They are an aide to growing muscle and losing fat. Listen to people when they say most of your transformation is about diet and only a little about lifting. Going to the gym and working out for 1-2 hours a day is the easy part. Dieting 24/7 is not. Just keep the motivation and dedication. You can't have one without the other, but if you have both, you WILL succeed.

Skinny bro checking in! Use to be 108 when I started 6 months ago 14x now. For us skinny people I don't think we really need to follow a strict diet, devour whatever you see till you hit your goal weight then start a cut. I also recommend Optimum nutrition serious mass as a weight gainer. Remember, Eat like a king, sleep like a baby, work like a slave, look like a god! Also take your vitamins and some whey.
