Last week I bought 200 mg tabs at Wallymart figuring I should give the sugary coffee/energy drinks a break. Took a tab right before work, and another tab 4 hours later. It ended up being my best day at the job. I literally increased my performance nearly 50% and made half the mistakes I normally do. I'm a bit of a skeptic and scoff at most powders and pills, however this felt straight up magical. I'm prone to distraction, and just am not a fast mover, but that day I was in the zone. My ADD-ish tendencies completely gone. My boss told HER boss how suddenly my performance improved.
The second day, in great anticipation...things went nearly back to normal. It's been like that for the past week, I'm once again slower and making more mistakes, and getting distracted. Despite every combination of sleep time and food timing/intake, I cannot replicate those magical affects.
I'm 100% positive those caffeine tabs made the difference that day. I don't know what happened since. I've never taken a drug before, but I felt like I was one one then, and now all I have are these sugar pills. Being a coffee/energy drink fiend, I didn't figure 200 mg to make much of a difference, but it did.
How can I get the effect back? Did I develop a tolerance already? Is my body tapped or something? I'm tempted to try 1.5 tabs before work today...

1.5 tabs (300mg) would be fine.
I'd be willing to bet it was just placebo that first day.
Caffeine definitely helps, but it's not the superdrug NZT-48 from the movie Limitless.
If you really are a coffee/energy drink fiend then cycling off of stimulants might not be a bad idea. Depending on how much coffee/energy drinks you used to drink on a daily basis you were likely already taking in well over 200mg of caffeine."Man is nothing else but what he makes of himself." - Jean Paul Sartre

Some studies show that caffeine is better absorbed in pill form than liquid.
