For the semantics' sake: there is no such thing as a seated military press. Military press is a variation of an overhead press, that requires the lifter to be standing with their feet together.

That being said, the program is most likely wnating you to do standing to have the added core activation, etc. (I'm speculating, I don't know the program well).

Seated will allow you to overload the shoulders more, by what you've noticed, more weight (from removing the weaker link of the core/balance issues).

Ultimately your goals should dictate what you do, but the program apparently has standing for a reason (i'd assume).

Standing > Seated all day... You will eventually pass up the weight you could do at the seated version.

I was gonna say that seems pretty unlickly since you have the ability to you use may more energy in a seated press. i think i can almost do 55 more lbs over the standing press for the same 10 reps.

Considering Bill Starr is a former Olympic weightlifter, I'm quite sure he wants you to do a standing press.
