I'll put an end to this silly debate once and for all. Bottom line, Tyson was a professional fighter, Bruce Lee was a phucking actor.
Tyson got punched in the phucking head for a living, Bruce Lee wrote scripts and choreographed fight scenes for a living.
Bruce Lee nutthuggers will point to his impressive feats of athleticism, like pushups on two fingers and all of that shyt, but someone please tell me how this is supposed to help his skull withstand the impact of being punched in the head by the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time? The ease with which Tyson knocked out other heavyweight boxers in his prime was phenomenal. Do you think knocking out all a small asian dude with a light bone structure and more fragile skull would be that much of a challenge for him? Tyson was a phucking beast. Bruce Lee's blows would hardly phase Tyson BECAUSE HE WAS CONDITIONED TO BEING PUNCHED IN THE HEAD EVERY DAY BY HEAVYWEIGHT BOXERS, you moronic phucks.
And lastly, you dumbass Bruce Lee nuthuggers will say "OMG but bruce lee was so fast! His punches were so fast that you couldn't even see them!" Yes, he was fast when he was punching thin air or during staged fight scenes...which is quite different from trying to punch a professional fighter who is adept at bobbing and weaving, with his head moving around constantly and his guard always up. And do you think that Tyson didn't have incredible speed himself? Do you think he was some big, slow, lumbering hulk or something? Tyson's speed and power was phenomenal in the professional boxing world. You want a demonstration of Tyson's speed, then go to 1:57 on this youtube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8OzG...ature=relatedd.

You dumb kid? Bruce Lee founded Jeet Kune Do. He's essentially a martial arts master, he trained in tons of martial arts. And obviously Mike Tyson has the advantage, Bruce Lee was freaking 130 lbs or so and Mike Tyson's a heavyweight champion. However, even though Mike Tyson has an insane weight advantage, I'm a firm believer that Bruce Lee still had a chance. You see, Mike Tyson is a boxer. Bruce Lee smashes Mike Tyson's knee cap, what is he going to do now? You think Bruce Lee's going to punch him in the head all the time knowing he's a boxer?
Fact of the matter is, you guys think boxers are so tough because that's ALL YOU'VE SEEN. You've never seen the true martial artists in China, Japan, etc, because they don't strive for attention. They don't demonstrate their martial arts capability just to show off their toughness. Grand masters in Kung Fu are so freaking fast they can do knock you out in half a second.Workout Log

You dumb kid? I know he founded Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee was essentially a martial arts philosopher and theorist; he just didn't put any of those theories to the test against other fighters. He has no credibility as a fighter because HE WASN'T A FIGHTER, HE WAS AN ACTOR.
Which further proves my point...

brb mike tyson can't do **** if bruce lee traps his hands after he goes in for a punch, sidekick his knee and mike tyson's kneecap shatters, it's all downhill from there
strong lack of understanding of wing chun, which is only part of jeet kune do; wing chun is DESIGNED to allow a smaller guy to take out a bigger guyWorkout Log

just because bruce lee wasnt a professional fighter doesnt mean he couldnt fight
he trained under grand masters since a very young age and was training/sparring/fighting people since he was a kid, probably not much different than tysons background. to think that someone of his stature never sparred/fought a bigger person is very silly. to also think that someone of his stature would try to go punch-for-punch with someone and stand them up when they're down a solid 60-70lbs (just guessing on tysons weight) is also very silly
like the other guy said, there's more to martial arts than taking punches to the head

strong lack of understanding of martial arts in this thread..
take a look at that. that guy's slower than bruce lee. all of his strikes were aimed at vital points. had he not held back, that guy would have been down on the 2nd strike, let alone the next 6. brb can't build up muscles around your throat, arteries, pressure points, etc.
(what he's doing is an exercise called sticky hands. if you feel a hand or a wrist on your wrist, you instantly trap his hands through a series of movements and move in for the kill. effective exercise)Workout Log

What you seem to have trouble wrapping your head around is that, even though Bruce Lee could display martial arts abilities (like in that video) that look impressive, these happen in a completely controlled environment where the "opponent" is simply there to facilitate Bruce's demonstration.
Again, the equation is entirely different when the opponent is a heavyweight boxer who is almost twice his size and strength, who is actually swinging punches at him and trying to smash his skull (which Tyson would easily do with one punch).

oh right because he was a showman
LMFAO @ bruce lee trying to go up against this

I ****ing love how bruce lee nuthuggers all appeal to a bunch of convoluted theoretical evidence for proof that he could have won in a fight against mike tyson.

I think Tyson would beat him even more convincingly in a no-rules, fight to the death type scenario. Tyson was a phucking PSYCHO who used to beat people up in the streets for fun in his teens. And I don't think Tyson would restrict himself to only using his fists in a fight to the death. Remember, we are talking about the guy who bit another dude's ear off.

This debate could get interesting if we would discuss something like Tyson vs Emelianenko. But putting a 220lbs man vs a 130lbs man is just plain out retarded. I don't care how fast he is, he gon' get raped.

Not a Bruce Lee nuthugger but saying Bruce Lee was just an actor is beyond fuking stupid.
You do realize Bruce Lee was constantly challenged in China by random strangers (who knew how to fight) to street fights because they didn't think he was all tough. Suffice to say, he damn near severly injured some (srs). Watch his documentaries, he explains all the crap he had to deal with just walking the streets in China. He has plenty of experience in real bouts. Not just an actor that choreographs his fights.

One of Lee's Sidekicks would be enough. Lee could cause a 300-lb (136.08 kg) bag to fly towards and thump the ceiling with a sidekick.
