ShapeUps/Easy Tones While pregnant?
My girlfriend and I are now expecting a baby (not planned, but still happy), only a few weeks along. But she needs some new shoes, and I was wondering if Sketcher shapeups or reebok easytones are safe for a pregnant woman.

I don't think it's really a big deal. As long as she's not wearing heels it shouldn't be a problem. Unless of course she feels lower back pain or something of that nature a little further into her pregnancy. I say let comfort be her guide.

Assuming she just likes the look of them (because they are useless for 'toning'), I wouldn't recommend them when pregnant. Aren't they raised up in the heel? It won't really matter in the first & most of second trimester, but you really need to be careful of your balance in the third. Your balance/centre of gravity changes, and it can be dangerous to fall forward (read: risk of placenta abruption) ~ a small risk of course, but hardly work a pair of shoes. If she's pregnant than just get her good solid steady shoes.

I would not recommend these shoes to pregnant women. I tested several pairs of these shoes for online review and all them cause slight imbalances when walking, not something that is ideal for pregnant women. Ok sure first trimester would prob be fine. They also had a tendency to cause lower back pain and discomfort. Plus they made my feet hurt.
And at about $100 a pair really I just wouldn't suggest them to pregnant women. I'd get her sneakers she would be comfortable in.

the girls at my gym use the Asics with the Gel in them and they are super comfy and keep your feet from hurting... they use them when they do intense cardio and it helps support their feet, legs, and backs!

thanks to all you girls. I think I'll just get her a pair of good walking shoes.
