How many inches can you lose a month

I tried searching the forum and saw nothing about it... I know 8-10 pounds a month is a good goal for losing weight but how many inches can you realistically lose off your waist in a month?

There's no way to quantify it realistically. One person could lose 3 inches from their waist, while another may lose two inches around their legs and one from the waist, etc. We all lose it different

Thanks, but even with different areas going at different times there still must be an average or so on what to expect for inches lost. I really just want to know if I'm being realistic by wanting to lose 3 inches off my waist per month.

If you actually are around 250 like your stats say. You can aim for more weight loss than that. For heavier people, you don't need to worry about "maintaining muscle" and all that because your primary goal should be to lose the weight and be done with it.

So, if you actually are 250 at 5'9", I don't see why you couldn't lose 3-4 pounds a week and still be healthy.

    Just keep protein high.

In the military, 10 pounds lost is usually an inch around the waist, no matter what size you are. I know it can vary in people, but as an idea, 10LBS=1 inch around the waist.

Zoid's estimate is probably in the ballpark. I'm down almost 60 pounds since last March, and my pant size has gone from 40 to 30. It does depend a lot on where you store your fat. I've been shooting for a pound lost per week, and every 2-3 months I've had to get smaller pants (and a new belt!).
