I like and use the Wal-Mart Equate brand Men's One a Day cause they don't hurt my stomach like the brand name Men's One a Day. You can take it on a full or empty stomach and feel fine. They're like 200 in a bottle for $8.

the problem with multivitamins is that the nutrients often interact antagonistically. for example, calcium supplements reduce zinc absorption by half. you are thus effectively pooping away your money when you take a multivitamin. another problem is that your body often doesn't need as much as the multivitamin provides. its cute to take 500% of your DV of vitamin c but your body will piss much of that away as it can only process so much.
there is also the problem of nutrients being packaged in cheap instead of easily absorbable forms. for example zinc gluconate is more difficult for your body to absorb than zinc aspartate (a 'purer form'). do you think you are getting 'zinc' when you are instead getting the inferior gluconate form?

Better to take a little more than your body needs (especially for those water solubles) and let your body take all it wants than the other way around. You speak as if offering your body a little more than it needs is all bad.
Like I said, the best is not going to be the junk you buy at your grocery store

I would probably just grab a few bottles of the vitamins you need and watch your IU's for taking them.
As stated, multivitamins can be pretty useless in some of the vitamins they provide/don't provide.
Someone else said you can take a multivitamin on an empty stomach? Yeah no. Taking one on an empty stomach will make you puke. Take it with a meal. lol

A multivitamin & mineral formula is what the name suggest so don't get carried away by any stupid claims on the label.
So what it comes down to is quality of the product, origin (chemical or natural) and dosage of the ingredients.
You'd be far better off going to a pharmacy and choosing a quality multivitamin than a bodybuilding store.
Solgar are an obvious choice, they are also a natural source.
I personally use Solgar's VM 2000.
As a bonus it contains an increased amount of vitamin C compared to your usual multivitamin.
I'll be switching to Solgar's Omnium, which is considerably pricier but it contains the best of everything, including antioxidants such as those naturally found in red wine for example and a high dosage of Esther C, considered to provide the best bio availability.
Solgar have various packages on each product helping achieve some good savings for the regular users.
I'd think that any multi found in a pharmacy is bound to be good quality.
When it comes to multis, I suggest you steer clear of bodybuilding supplement companies.
You cannot tell for sure what is hot and what is not but you do not have to.

It is not a good sign of quality.
Any product of ON I've tried dissolves very easily and has good taste.
They put a lot of effort into that.
It is NOT a sign of quality.
Consistency of their products is a sign of quality and strict control and that I'll give to them.
Old style bodybuilding proteins did not dissolve well and had s*it taste, that does not mean they were not of good quality.
If anything they did not contain all the stuff one has to add to achieve a great taste and have it dissolve very easily.
Protein won't dissolve easily in water as is, so in it's purest form has it's best quality and it's not easy to consume.
The most reputable multivitamin companies do not make multis that dissolve in the mouth, I have to wonder why.

Frankly, I would be worried if I could neither taste or see a partial breakdown of the vitamin while it was in my mouth. With Opti-men, I can taste the B vitamins (which is terrible btw). The problem with many multivitamins (as was mentioned earlier) is their abilty to break down during digestion. The sewers are full of undigested vitamins, that were so compacted in their production that people were unable to get any benefit from them.
Definitely agree about consistency being key, and ON does a good job with most of it's products.

Lulz, people making such a big deal about something they will most likely piss out anyways.
But if you're going to take one, take it with a high fat meal for optimal absorption. Centrum complete or one a day will work just fine. Be skeptical about designer vitamins with a high price tag especially when you piss out more yellow than normal.

these all are pretty much a waste of time. They are chemically processed. you body wont recognize most of the ingreadients and they are for the most part underdosed for anyone thats involved in a serious physical fitness regime.
I think whole food multis are the key. Also good options are animal pak, anvite, orange triad etc. they tend to have more for the lifter. my wife brought me some mens one a day. I took like four per day they suckHemavol
Potassium nitrate
Reboot
Phosphatidylserine

Let's put it this way.
Next morning I can fill up a container with pills full of sugar, stick a label on it that says it has everything in it and sell it.
Any doctor that reads the label will say it's fine.
I don't know what you expect a doctor to know other than read the label to see if all the stuff appears to be in there.
Probably hadn't even heard of the company before.
I'm not saying this product is anything like this but I've made my point.
I believe that going with an established pharmaceutical company and preferring natural source vitamins is a much better bet.
Still, it's optional.
