hardware: nonexistant. lol. i guess an m-audio keyboard & interface, m-audio bx8a's (due for an upgrade to yamaha hsm80s). acoustic treatment in dat dere bedroom. :P

daws: ableton / logic

vsts: sylenth, nexus, massive, z3ta.
other suggested plugins: cytomic's the glue (beastmode compressor), dada life's sausage fattener, and valhalladsp's valhallaroom. all decently cheap and extremely useful!

nice nice, I've got quite a few of those, I really need to buy the fattener though..

As for my track, I've decided I'm done with it and I'm just going to move on from it and start a new track. I will probably send it to my brother though see if he can fiddle with it and fix it up.

I dunno brah.. I like songs more uplifty, so my opinion might not even matter to you. But its too dark. At the 4 mark, I don't like the sweeps going up and down. I like the beat behind that. Should have started with that beat, and added another nice melody on top. At the (drop?) at the end, the sound is too basic. There's no like layering of sounds. It just sounds like a single bass noise really high in volume with a drum melody. At the end, it could use work.

I liked the drop in the original znnznznn. The 2nd version just sounds extremely basic.

The only criticism I can say maybe if you drop that melody out or have other instruments that maybe hint at it.

Been making house for about a year. This song.. Total, I worked on it for a few weeks but that includes almost two weeks of just being a lazy dousche.. Total hours spent, probably 5 or 6. I spend a lot of time just listening over and over and over again until ideas pop through my head. My process usually is about a week of dicking around hating myself while i try to get something to come up and then some riff comes up that I like and it just takes off from there. Glad you liked it and thanks for the criticis man. I take it all in and keep it in mind for every next track i do. Always gotta improve

after the drop? its a layer of saws and a bass from TB monomate(free VST) heavily distorted http://tweakbench.com/monomate using glitch.

I've done more work now though and I think it sounds 10 times better

Formal music theory suggests you get your lyrics then match it to a rhythm, then find a melody. But I guess it depends on what ideas you have for the track (having said that, I've never written a song with vocals before).
