I've noticed that most bodybuilders barely/don't even have fruits in their diet. The sugar in some fruits is more than some sweets.
Ive been researching the answer to this all day. Some are for and others against
What is the clear cut answer???
also is it okay for a diabetic to be eating fruits

Some bodybuilders eat fruit but I think on a cut they are avoided for obvious reasons.
But yea you should ask in the nutrition section.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

wow @ the responses.
Eat fruit. In a cut or in a bulk. It has nutritional value regardless. A lot of people don't eat fruit because they do not know what in the hell they are doing in regards of a healthy diet.
And to answer your question: No, the sugar is fruits are not bad.6'1" 215lbs 7% bf

I have a lot of experience in this lol, ive tested it myself and read up on tons of responses from people.
The biggest factor in its effect on bodyfat cutting is your individual response to it, clear cut answer is its different for everyone, i myself CANNOT cut any significant amount of bodyfat eating a mediocre amount of sugar of any kind (including fruits). Would 1 fruit a day ruin my cut? prob not, would 3-4? absolutely.
Just see what works for you because tons of people dont have problems with it.

Well the body recognises it as energy (glucose) pretty much but there is a difference between wheat pasta (complex carb) and coke (simple), the difference is in how the body uses it. Complex carbs burn slower, simples burn faster.
The body can only use a certain amount of glucose at once. So if you have the simple carb and you are not using it quickly, it will be stored as fat QUICKER than the complex carb which is burned slower.
Otherwise if you are needing that insulin spike (with hiit, or something) then not a single fck was given that day. Eat what you want.Last edited by COBBER; 02-02-2011 at 11:54 PM.

Lmao at anyone who associates "sugar" with being unhealthy.
There's a big difference in a processed candy bar and fruit. The fruit has antioxidant properties and other healthy stuff that science has yet to even figure out. No person on any diet should be avoiding fruit.
There's a reason evolution created fruits... it is of great nutritional value and primates have lived off of strictly fruit diets for thousands of years.Last edited by Alternative; 02-02-2011 at 11:58 PM.

I generally stay away from fruits (there are exceptions), and this is why.
Fructose is more lipogenic (fat forming) than any other sugar or starch. It also causes greater elevations in blood fats (triglycerides and cholesterol) than other carbohydrates. Additionally fructose might also alter appetite, increasing hunger and cravings for sweet foods. According to research, fructose decreases levels of leptin, a hormone that normally suppresses hunger. At the same time, it raises levels of ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates hunger.Http://www.warriorbodyandmind.com

It's advised to eat low GI fruits. Blueberries pack a ton of antioxidants, so do raisins and they are low GI. Now a banana or orange in the morning, during, or post workout. That's not a bad idea.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /
