I never stop working out for a cold...If you're sick and throwing up or something that's a different story. But like the guy above said, It helps to sweat it out and I always feel much better as well.

dont listen to this crap. working out weakens your immune system so dont do it until you are 100% again

dumb idea to workout when sick.

your SYMPTOMS might seem to disappear but later you'll be more tired and you will get set back in terms of your recovery.

    AND

you're going to get other people sick if you're coughing around a crowded gym. don't be a selfish prick.

just imagine when you're working out perfectly healthy, and some kid comes in w/ a stuffy nose, coughing and wheezing on all the weights/near you. you would think 'why are you even here, gtfo before you get me sick' - don't be that guy.
You have 3 choices in life: be good, get good, or give up. -House

I heard usually the rule of thumb is that you feel sick below the neck refrain from working out, above and theres no problem really.

I'd do a light workout maybe ride the bike a bit. Does your gym have a sauna?

Forget about the gym until you're back to 100% again.

Whilst out of the gym just concentrate on your diet and water intake.

Then when you're better get back in the gym and squat like you've never squatted before.
