    And the question is....

Do the consumption of saturated fats raise non-esterified fatty acid levels in the body?

The high-fat meals significantly increased postprandial concentrations of triglycerides, nonesterified fatty acids, and insulin and postprandial indexes of β cell function.

MUFAs postprandially buffered β cell hyperactivity and insulin intolerance relative to SFAs in subjects with high fasting triglyceride concentrations. These data suggest that, in contrast with SFAs, MUFA-based strategies may provide cardiovascular benefits to persons at risk by limiting lipid and insulin excursions and may contribute to optimal glycemic control after meal challenges.

Thanks man. Yeah I def included monos in my diet. But I am really wondering if sat. fat is really that bad. Granted the last couple of years I didn't really care about my sat. fat intake. I been in and out of the emergency room a couple of times. I am wondering if its due to high NEFAs affecting the ATP potassium channels. Also calcium too high intra-cellular sodium and calcium levels and heart palpitations.

I remember reading a (bogus) study on saturated fat and whether it had any negative effects, and even they found that saturated fat didn't affect non-esterified fatty acid levels.

I don't exactly know about non-esterified fatty acid levels, but I don't buy it either.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently published a study (which included a study on over 350k individuals spanning more than 18 years) concluding that not only does saturated fat not increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, but it actually *reduced* the risk of contracting such issues.

Here's an abstract from one part of that study - http://www.ajcn.org/content/92/4/759.abstract

And then a summary from a Dr. John Briffa - http://www.sott.net/articles/show/21...scular-disease

Thanks so much repped. Still want to get blood levels checked but now the question is how much sat fat am I to add to my diet. Fats are stored much easier than carbs.
