Isn't asking a 20 year old about how to lose fat like asking a vagina how to bleed?

Not saying you're not shredded, just saying... at 20, you should be.

I'm 16 years old. I store body fat pretty easily. I've always been "skinny-fat". I guess I have a slow metabolism.

Currently I'm lifting heavy on a 5 day split and getting my diet in check. For people with slow metabolisms, what changes should be made to the diet? Thanks for any help man, you're one of my inspirations.

Holy crap, sweeet. You're my inspiration dude!!

I was wondering what your take is on low-carb diets while cutting. I like to do high fat, high protein, low carb cuts. Good idea, or no?

Lyle McDonalds the keto diet? And whats IF?

Keto is a good diet and i only recomend it for people who have alot of fat weight to lose, i dont recomend a keto diet for a bodybuilder who wants to compete though as there is somewhat more muscle loss with keto than opposed to a diet with carbs in it, if this is not a concern go with a keto diet, other wise just stick to a normal low/moderate carb diet which is far superior IMO.

Really need pics to determin weather to cut or bulk, if you are "skinny-fat" depends on what degree i would bulk and ass some size, work out a solid routine and a good clean diet, stick to it and once you have decent amount of mass then go on a cut. Use a high protein/moderate carb/moderate fat diet.

Yes low carb diets are much superior to a full out 0 carb diet (keto), personally i go low/moderate carbs it all depends on the person and your activity level, carbs are not always the enemy. When dieting and using a low-carb diet you will want to make sure all your carbs are around times they are needed most, for example morning and pre/post workout as there are the most catabolic times of the day and when carbs are needed most.

I am considering doing a 12 week cut.

I should be consuming about 2200 cals and at a body weight of 80kg/175 pounds, how many carbs do you think I should limit my self to each day with those macros at my current weight.

Also, I am currently at about 16%BF after 12 weeks, what BF% should I be aiming for?
    thanks

Do you count calories when dieting? If so, what kind of numbers (calories per day, macro if possible etc) do you use? What signs do you see during dieting that show your diet is working?

You mentioned low/moderate carb diets when dieting, do you stay on low/moderate carb for the entire duration of the diet or do you include weekly refeeds/carbloads?
    Current: 15% BF

    Goal: 10 - 12% bodyfat.

June is 4 months from now.

    If you cut 2 lbs a week x 16 weeks = 32 lbs
    + 10 lbs of water = 42 lbs

Thats going by the typical 2lbs a week.

So 50 lbs is possible if you are just starting and put in the effort. Most likely you wont be happy at 190 unless you have a ton of muscle but its a good start. Im 5'10 and 190 lbs. Still around 20 lbs of fat to go.

Edit: also wanted to add I was 243 last year when I started, so very similar to you now.

OP is lean... WOW! Aint' that a bitch? Eat less + lift = look lean. Get in the mass building threads and stop pretending to be a fitness guru OP. Many people look like you.

Is it possible to lose fat while clean bulking?

I dirty bulked for 6 months and gained a good amount of fat around my lower stomach/love handles area, and that's the only place I really have fat.

I've been eating clean and I do see it slowly getting less and less, but I don't know how to lose it at a faster rate.

I have a high protein diet, and I get my carbs/fats from my weight gainer shake (Cytogainer), and I won't eat any real carbs/fats
    RIP Zyzz

He could be breathing out fast, as having less ''air'' in you, makes your abs look even more ripped. Not sure about the science behind it.

But honestly, In the very first post OP asks what is IF? Shows his knowledge, eh?...
Looks alone should not give the right to give nutrition advice, or else we'd all be listening to Franco Colombo who looked a lot leaner and at the same time far more muscular than OP telling us not to consume dairy because it makes us fat...

OP's idea however is a good one, I would LOVE to have such threads here done by Lyle, Martin Berkhan or Alan Aragon. There is such a thread by Chris Aceto in nutrition section, very popular, thou accused of bro science often.

I dont recomend severe calorie deficit diets, slow dieting is best if trying to preserve muscle mass if you are a bodybuilder dont do this. However if you are just a person who wants to lose alot of fat and has no means in bodybuilding, yeah sure just dont go too crazy with it.

No i dont agree with fasting, dont see any benifits from this.

Also, I am currently at about 16%BF after 12 weeks, what BF% should I be aiming for?
    thanks
It all depends on your body and your activity level, an estimate on a 2200 cal diet i would go around 150-200g carbs, keeping the bulk of them morning pre/post workout as this is when they are needed most.

That seems a very low amount of calories, how did you get these numbers?

I dont bother with using fat burners, yeah sure some are good i suspose but the burn a hole in your pocket more than anything, i just supplement with caffeine up to 1g per day sometimes. You could also use green tea, but alot of fat burners these days are all hype, just stick with the basics and remember the most important factor in losing bodyfat is:

    - Diet
    - Cardio

what the speed? the gradient? how long? post workout cardio?

also food...very little carb?how much per day? but the workout will be horrible due to no energy.

    lets say yours..
There is no exact amount of cardio which is recomended for someone to perform, it all depends on calorie intake, activity level, etc.. A good place to start is cardio 3x per week, but it up if need be.

Speed and gradient dosent matter, dont worry about the "fat burning zone" thats bull****, just do cardio to burn calories because at the end of the day losing fat is all about calories in VS calories out.

Cardio can be done anytime it dosent matter as long as you get it done, post-workout is probally not the best time however, but i understand its just convenient for some people to do it at this time, like myself. If you choose to do post-workout cardio have a big meal post workout or even something after the weights and before the cardio like glucose sugar/BCAA's or even your protein shake. dont worry about trying to burn fat during cardio it makes no difference.

Possible but i do really recomend losing more than 2lbs per week.

You mentioned low/moderate carb diets when dieting, do you stay on low/moderate carb for the entire duration of the diet or do you include weekly refeeds/carbloads?
No i dont count cals exctally, just an estimate, when bulking its roughly 3800cals per day and when cutting its roughly 3000cals per day, the lowest i tend to go is 2800cals. The mirror is the best form of judgement, forget the scales.

Yea i stay low-moderate carbs during the whole diet with roughly between 240-280g carbs depending on how long i have been dieting, i re-feed once per week on friday before my 2 off days on this day i will consume anywhere between 500-800g carbs, **** do i tighten up and look 10x fuller after this! But yes everyone should re-feed because when dieting your leptin levels drop in attempt by the body to keep stored bodyfat, so having a re-feed bringing carbs up by atleast 100% more depending on body type and how lean you alredy are as this will boost leptin levels again and keep you burning fat at a good rate. leptin is the king of all fat burning hormones.

The leaner you are the more you should re-feed some people like 2 re-feed 2x per week but obvesiouly not as agressive with the carbs, i tend to only stick with 1x per week and go crazy puttting me into a calorie surplus.

Bulk to gain muscle, cut to lose fat. dont try achive both at the same time. why would you not eat any real carbs/fats? Thats just silly.
