What would be good if I wanted to DJ a party - basically have songs mix into each other smoothly?

Virtual DJ works best for me. I have full version.
Fruity, Ableton etc..is when your getting into producing, and not mixing. Which is what you want to do I am guessing is just mix.

If your gonna do a party, use tables. Either CDJ's or Vinyl. Practice first, get the basics down. Then move on to that step, it takes awhile.

I tried AcidPro for mixing together clips and adding in sound fx to produce a track. It's somewhat complicated, but if you have time to learn the software, it works well. U can usually get the cracked version of mixing software through torrent sites like isohunt.com, just make sure your virus protecion is up to date.
