Hey that's not too bad. I consider gas cheap here in NM and it's about $3.43 give or take. Still better than EU. I can't believe it's that expensive with a refinery IN your state...I figured it was an Iran situation being that high. What about chicken/beef and such?
Not sure, been in Santa Fe taking the next step to a full mullet and gettin some huntin gear (and eating a fast food chimichanga)...just doing a quick google it said they are on their way/there today. If not aware, KI helps remove cesium from the system. K and Cs are in the same group, and Cs binds with I stronger and therefore removes it or some sh!t (not a health physicist or bio person here). I'm not sure how the Cs got there though. It represents a large percentage of the fission products and would be present in a meltdown or major fuel rupture, but there has been no word of that.
Perhaps I have been totally wrong about the dangers there, but all my speculation was based on the facts they've been releasing. If they've been lying to the public then forget everything I said. There are also a few reprocessing plants in Japan...that could be related?
I'm not surprised at all that tritium or radioactive gases will/have reached our west coast. Like I've been saying, tritium isn't that bad, and all of the radioactive gases decay away pretty quickly, not to mention those gases are all typically inert and won't bother humans too bad.Best Meet Lifts:

I understand the science behind Cs replacing potassium, that's just a matter of reduction potential, I'm just curious as to why everyone is freaking out. If they're distributing KI tablets in local universities (they are) I would think there is actually some clear and present danger [again i see that as a big MAYBE.. i do know the media tries to draw viewers to increase ratings and money, etc, etc]

I think the Cs/K thing has more to do with size and is a hard/soft type thing (K is small, Cs and I are close in size).
The Japanese public is VERY cautious and apprehensive about nuclear issues. If Cs is getting out...it's a pretty big deal. Some of the test islands have had consistent issues with the stuff since the 50's. After "cleaning" it up, plants take it up, animals get it, then humans get it and they get cancer. I'm actually pretty worried about this...not that I think there is some huge eminent danger, but because of the ammunition this will give anti-nuclear.Best Meet Lifts:
