.... I'm pretty sure these guys have not done P90X so listening to them is uhhh stupid. If you wanna do that kind of routine go ahead, youll have fun and get results. If you wanna lift heavier weights and do barbell work well then the gyms that way ---->
Whatever kind of exercise you wanna do, do. P90X is fun and will get you results.Never underestimate daily, consistent action coupled with the magical power of time.

If finding the equipment/buying it is a problem for you, I would recommend "Insanity," which is another workout vid you can torrent, (made by the same company that created P90X) that uses only your body (calisthenics). The only difference is, it's much harder, and only take 60 days as opposed to 90. My two cents.

i have the cash, i just dont KNOW what is required for this program, is there a *required item list* etc for it?
i have just the dvd's on digits, i dont have any manuals, logs, diets, etc. just the exercises.
want a list of everything i need to do it, i'll do insanity after. mainly due to fact i want to get the most results i can, dont want to go straight to hard core and miss out on the 1st level of results.

I know as far as stuff you need you'll need free weights, a yoga mat, and a pull up bar and that can get your through most of it. There's a how to video for homemade pull up bars. My buddies are doing p90x and made one bu bolting a board to the ceiling with some bars coming off it. It's badass. Just google it and o btw the yoga is no joke.

i dont want to bulk @ other guy.
yeah, i know diet is key. but im in army, i eat at the chow hall, what are some basic food groups to eat/ dont eat.
one line is fast food, cheeseburgers, hotdogs etc.. clearly stay away from this
next line is main meal line, they serve
almost always
mashed potatos, a green veggie -green beans or brocoli-, rice, corn. and a meat of some sort chicken, pork, beef. etc. i typically eat the chicken and beef meals.
3rd line is sandwhich line, they make sandwhiches, white or wheat, ham turkey beef uhm theres afew more meets, but when i eat sandwhcih i only eat turkey.
theres a salad bar, soup bar, chicken noodle soup is good right? i eat alot of it. and then desert bar which i dont even look at, fruits and veggies at another bar.
i use protein to. so tell me what i should generally eat day to day and how much. thanks.

I did it in 8th grade (kinda did do the workout schedule wrong) but I did get pretty strong and followed it here and there during 9th grade. I do look pretty defined (despite not being strong with the powerlifting, I have some of the most defined shoulders and triceps in school). However my biceps aren't really that good. Just have the "lump" which some people say is atleast good. But this will get you in great shape. So if you are a powerlifter, it will get you stronger in other spots that you didn't work on so much.

theres two different types to do:
P90X classic: to gain mass (you have to use dumbbells to get the results)
or P90X lean: which is more cardio based if your looking to lose weight.

on my 2nd full round of p90x....at your size your just like my buddy who has a stupidly high metabolism he did the first round with me.... you gain muscle as long as you stick to the lift heavy 6-8 reps all the way thru and always up your weight if u can lift 8 reps plus, up your weight besides some of the ones he says do 16 reps
id suggest the powerblock u90's cuz in p90x you'll use all weights from 5lb-90lb+
you wont get huge meathead gorilla size on p90x but you will get bigger and stay flexible and quick if not gain speed

P90 X is a different type of training...it will test your endurance and energy levels...with that said u will sweat a **** load if you do all the excercises at 100%..i mean like rain sweat u will be drinched if u do it right..With this said and right nutrition yes u will get ripped to shreds.
/endI have waited my whole life to say this....THE SAINTS ARE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!!!!

Im on my 3rd cycle and started two years ago, you can look up the diet plan it comes with, since you are in infantry though, i would reccomend high protein, LOW carbs, and low fats. Eat as many calories as you want, just resist carbs sugars and fats. More calories higher metabolism, atleast that is what i followed and i recieved great results. (225 bulk down to 185 ripped). And saints-fan is correct, you will be sweating so much and your close enough to not even need a new diet, jsut not fastfood.

Hey man I am speaking from experience on both p90x and being in the Canadian infantry. In my opinion its one of the best programs to do if your in the army. I did it before I started basic and I lost 7% bf and raised my pushups from 25 to 55 and pullups from 12 to 32. My cardio also went through the roof. I kept my calories high simply because i wasn't looking to decrease fat but raise my conditioning. It is such a hard program that you need the calories. I highly recommend it.
I used perfect pushup bars, a pullup bar and I had a dumbell set that you could add plates too. That all you really need except a mat for stretch and yoga etc. Also, do the yoga it helps so much with being able to maintain stable and comfortable in the squating and kneeling positions for a lot longer

P90x/insanity hybrid
Hi there, late reply but this could help others. I am now starting the Insanity/P90X hybrid, I read through this thread and noticed you had money for both, so, if you want to gain muscle while cut, use the insanity/p90x hybrid plan. I personally completed insanity, and I can say, that I lost a hell lot of weight! The feeling of getting compliments from friends and family saying "wow you have lost so much weight" is amazing. But. I wasnt happy with my self, I still had a bit of fat and no ripped physique, that Is why I am going to give another shot at Insanity and p90x ( I tried p90x prior to insanity for half a month). Instead of a diet, start eating a lot less, this way you are cutting on calories but enjoying the same foods. If you have any questions or want the INSANITY/P90X HYBRID contact me at
