Why are steroids illegal?

if your dying from an illness you don't need to take medication but a doctor would give you medication for it if you saw him. There is 0 reason for a doctor to give a healthy person test, and most would agree would be a really bad idea.

It's a personal choice that adults should be able to make for themselves. BD's point was that we don't "need" a lot things, but we should be able to make the choice for ourselves if it doesn't harm others.

I heard that the number of people being treated for steroid side effects increased 10 fold after they were made illegal, because people could no longer access the safer stuff or openly get doctor advice.

when they were legal they were not getting advice from doctors they were getting advice from gym guys just like now so there was really no difference. Guys now are getting horrible side effects from legal steroids-prohormones-

Yep. Oral sex between a husband and wife in the privacy of their own bedroom was illegal in 19 states before it was struck down. We should never have struck it down, since obviously it was illegal for a reason. Same with alcohol prohibition. We should have kept fighting it, since obviously it was made illegal for a reason.

Just the other day I heard on Christian talk radio that Christians need to vote for politicians that will legislate their values. Maybe that could be the reason why gays are illegal, and why life begins before conception, since the bible said "before you were conceived, I knew you.". The Catholic Church says condoms are bad, for a reason, so we should not go against it. They have a reason after all.

What evidence do you have of this? Why would everyone use them? People are aware of the possible side-effects. In some sports it's even detrimental to be that big.(I'm assuming you're referring to sports players when saying everyone)

Naw, not just sports players, I think for the most part their usage would be rampant. I wouldn't say everyone, but I would have to guess around right around 50% of society would use them in their lifetime on a regular basis and about close to 90% of everyone would have at least tried them once if they were legal. Those are rough estimates and their accuracy can be disputed but I don't need to provide evidence to say their usage would drastically go up, you can logically deduce that. Why would you not use steroids if they were legal? You get a nicer body, better athletic performance, your body feels stronger and better and there's no legal repercussion at all. Of course people are going to use them. If you don't think their usage would be so prevalent then tell me how or why someone would go their entire life without using them? I think that needs more proving than why someone would use them.

You would agree their usage would go up substantially correct? Do you realize how many mechanisms of actions you're manipulating inside of your body by adjusting your hormone levels? That is, what is actually going on inside of your body. Especially at young ages and you know there will be young kids that won't resist the temptation regardless of the stories. It would be ludicrous to let drugs like that float around in society unchecked. I mean, if you're going to allow people to manipulate something as important as their own hormone levels you might as well just make any drug legal. We might as well just eliminate the concept of pharmacies and prescriptions altogether and make everything over the counter. Why not?

Unless you are in a professional sport or tested competitions, you would not have testing for these substances. A general user will have high levels in his system, but I have yet to see a court case where a judge ordered a hormone test based on lack of evidence. Either the indvidual was caught in the act of purchasing steriods, or ordering them online and having them shipped through the USPS which is a Felony. Concrete Evidence must be provided that shows why we would reasonably believe that an indvidual is a user before the courts would require testing. Recently, the courts have been most interested in busting distributors and questioning buyers with the intent of getting substantial testmony to "CONVICT" the distributor.

Newsflash, the majority of that violence is caused because drugs are illegal....the drug trade. Read up on the Prohibition era. Organized crime escalates because they have a prodigious market for a lucrative product.
