Do not join the military (pt 2)

Unfortunately my first thread was closed for reasons unclear...

I see threads on the misc all the time about people considering joining the military. The typical politically correct response is "Yeah! Join up... Free education, job stability, etc." My purpose in creating this thread is not to troll but to provide a place for legitimate discussion. The military obviously provides some wonderful INDIVIDUAL benefits but what does it cost our country and what damage are we doing to the rest of the world?

Don't join the military?!? If noone joined the military in 1940's, how many millions more people would have died in the holocaust? By NOT joining the military you are committing murder. You are allowing crimes aganst humanity to be committed unpunished. I can not sit here and watch genocide on tv, I want to be there ending it. If noone joined the military, we (America) would not even be a nation! Is it not our military that fought the British forces for independance?

Why don't you ask some European Jews where they'd be right now without the US military. Go ask some South Koreans whether they think the US military does nothing but commit murder. Check in with some Kuwaitis and see how they feel about the issue.

Yes, there's a lot of war and destruction in the world, but there would be even MORE chaos if there wasn't the threat of the US stepping in and b!tch slapping countries that step too far out of line.
