Unless you enjoy sitting in a desert and stealing oil.
Seriously though... Why do people sign thief life away to the armed forces?
Patriotism is a joke. It is illogical to be prideful of something that happened by chance. You had absolutely zero control over which country you were born in.
Most nomal people agree war and violence are bad. By joining the military you are agreeing to do these things... And for what cause? All comes down to money and power.
The logical reason is financial. The military is just another flock of sheep to join. Join the flock, get food on your table and a roof over your head. Too bad it requires you to be closed minded and violent.
I don't mean to insult anyone in the military, but most of you hide behind the facade that you are protecting rights. This is laughable. Foreign countries don't want to limit our rights... This one does.
Not a single person in the military can honestly claim that they would like to see world peace. You all need to admit that violence lines your pockets and it also fuels the elite class in this country...

OP varies from valid points to sounding like a moron.
I will agree with you on the part where you say they hide behind the facade of protecting rights.

I like the military. Its like a club of jocks and alcholics so I fit right in. I also didnt spend a dime on undergrad and am currently getting paid to be in a Masters program for the next 1.5- 2 years.
sounds good to me.
Oh and I didnt need the money. My family had plenty before I joined, I grew up in a 1 mil home in Hawaii. I just did it for the lols and experience. I ended up liking it.

LOL I could care less about my reputation.
The bottom line is we have created a culture of fear in this country... We are scared of what we do not know and what we do not understand.
TERRORISM does not exist. There can not be war on something that is imaginary... Well unless this is a war that you would like to fight FOREVER.
Which is what the banks and huge American corporations would like.
Why are we still in Iraq? Why did we enter Iraq in the first place? Same could be asked about Vietnam.
You people need to look past the political puppets and figure out on your own who is truly running this country...
I'll give you a hint, they print the paper that controls your life.
