That was part of what the lesbians listed in their entire court case. The damages were awarded by the court for emotional damages AND the Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries ruling.

They were awarded so much because the bakery violated the law and their civil rights by their decision. This might as well read they had to pay 135k after declining the bake for a black couple, and the black couple sues for emotional distress.

All they had to do was follow the law, but instead they stuck to their morals, and made a decision in direct conflict of state laws, and the couples civil liberties. Play stupid games win stupid prices. They discriminated, you're not allowed to discriminate based on sexual preference, it is quite literally, no different then telling a black couple you would not sell them a cake because they were black.
