I work out in the morning and I usually have 4-5 egg whites with oatmeal or toast and come back and eat another square meal as my post workout.
Would I lose muscle if I save the eggs for after my workout and just have a 27 g protein shake with 3/4 cups of oatmeal?
I just think the latter would not be enough fuel to build muscle.

how many calories do you think 4-5 egg whites is?
27g of protein = 108 calories
Then you ahve to factor in the extra carbs and fats in the shake as well. Generally a normal serving protein shake is 130ish calories. You are still getting the oatmeal as well.
I'm not advocating to go on an all liquid diet, but this seems like a very trivial matter. You are getting carbs and protein before & after your workout. Which way you ingest the variuos ones is of little consequence.-
