i always warm up on a stationary bike followed by some stretching before i hit the weights, but is it really that important to stretch and cool down at end of workout? all comments appreciated

No need to do some kind of cool down routine. Just stretch for 5 minutes and you should be good.

People typically do dynamic stretching before working out. If they have a problem area then they may do some static stretches on those areas. After your workout static stretching is fine.

I do dynamic stretches before I workout and on leg and deadlift days I do static stretching for my lack of flexibility in my hips. After my workout I do static stretches.

I stretch (random stretches for the most part), but do not have a "cooldown" routine.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

I do a "cool down" routine after legs. Active recovery in a sense. Bout 10 minutes on a stationary bike, and some stretching. Helps with soreness. For me at least.
